Ever since HBK became a born-again Christian, he can't pull off a heel persona. Last night was a perfect example of that.

What? I came in here to point out how awesome that segment was and how it was the only redeemable part of the show.

You don't have to curse the fans out to be a heel. I think HBK worked them great.

Him not getting overwhelming heel heat isn't a product of his newfound faith. It's a product of him being an industry legend who's hardly on screen and only playing a supporting role while never being in any matches. I think he played the crowd well last night as well as his segment after screwing Bryan.

Yeah, but even when he was active full time, he couldn't pull off the heel when he fought Hogan. The only place where he got real heat was in Montreal and he'll always get heat in Montreal.

Here's my biggest gripe about HBK right now. I don't knock his faith (I'm a believer as well). It's just that every single time he appears since his retirement, he's basically been Hunter's mouthpiece. Hunter doesn't need a mouthpiece. HBK adds nothing to the current authority storyline. He added a bit to the Daniel Bryan stuff, but he adds nothing to the CM Punk stuff. HBK even admitted on his Twitter that last night was a last minute call by WWE to come in since they were in Dallas. It felt very rushed, like they had to say something since he superkicked Punk the week before.

All I'm saying is that HBK, from here on out, will always be a better face than a heel. Gone are the days of him pushing the envelope (although PG WWE killed any chance of that ever happening again).

Eh. I think he's been more entertaining the past few times he's been on screen as Hunter's "sell out" than all those cameo appearances he made trying to pretend to be a DX member while also having the afformentioned newfound faith.

Before, his appearances were nothing more than your typical stock legend segment where they come to the ring, suck up the cheers for a seemingly never ending 20 minutes, say thank you 500 times and tell the fans how much they love them, then get disrepsected by some random midcard heel.

    Yawn

+1 I thought next to Bryan/Orton (minus the finish) was the best part of the show. Even if it was rushed/last minute, I thought Michaels and Punk played that crowd exactly how he needed to and gave a tutorial on how to do a good tandem promo in a pg environment in under 5 minutes (HHH PLEASE LEARN THIS!!!!!!).

    Re: Official WWE Thread

Rumble is coming up so I thought I'd try my hand at predicting the Mania Card.

    1) Title: Daniel Bryan vs Randy Orton
Its not quite as clear as last year with Cena but its almost crystal that Bryan is going to win IMO. This should be where Bryan gets his final moment.

    2) The Streak: Undertaker vs John Cena
This is a big time money match the WWE hasn't done on Mania and its someone new for Cena, can Cena and Taker live up to the Streak's extremely high bar? One other thing I've heard rumored is that Bryan doesn't win the Rumble and Taker hand picks Bryan to face at Mania (see John Cena picking Bryan for Summerslam).

    3) CM Punk vs HHH/ (DX)
Punk is one of the guys that could still win the Rumble but I think they'll go for the Punk/HHH fued.

    4) Golddust vs Cody Rhodes
Golddust has made his mark, it's Cody's time now. Give the Rhodes a moment on the grandest stage of them all.

    5) IC Title: Bray Wyatt vs Big E Langston
Two young studs battle to try and elevate a once prestigious mid card belt.

    6) Divas: AJ Lee vs Lita
Special attraction match here too. Lita was one of the reasons AJ got into wrestling.

    7) Batista vs Brock Lesnar w/ Paul Heyman
The Animal vs Beast. This match does NOT need the belt involved. IMO.

    8) Kane vs Roman Reigns
I don't really know how this would work, maybe have Reigns approach Kane's record of eliminations and Kane puts Ambrose and Rollins up to eliminating him? Really though, I think the old monster vs the new monster could be a really good launching point for Reigns.

    9) Tag Team: The Usos vs The Real Americans.

Opening: Miz vs Fandango vs Ambrose vs ??? Get people a pay day lumberjack match?

    Re: Official WWE Thread

According to Hammer at SR 5 matches are already set for Mania

    Orton versus Batista (Title)

    Sheamus versus Bryan

    Bray Wyatt versus Cena

    Punk versus HHH

    Taker versus Lesnar

Not sure if he has some kind of source or if that's just speculation based on the events thus far, though. 3 of those make perfect sense based on what we've seen to this point. Not sure where he's getting Lesnar/Taker or Bryan/Sheamus from if he's just speculating. (Not that I don't see those as something they'd do)

The wrestling dirt sheets are reporting those matches... They are also reporting that a contract is all but signed for Sting to come to WWE and compete and Mania... Take it for what it's worth, but I certainly hope this isn't the top of the card because if it is it might go down as the worst Mania in the 30 year history of it...

If thats the lineup I'm skipping Mania. Just tired of all the part-timers and you have a part timer (until Batista proves otherwise) fighting for the belt... again. He's been on tv what twice maybe before Rumble, at least the Rock made appearances throughout the year (although I didn't like it either). I don't want to see Sheamus vs Bryan again on Mania (and who knows it got bumped once maybe it gets bumped again just to give a giant FU to all the Bryan fans). Cena's penchant for killing factions/pushes still leaves me uneasy with that match (see Ryback, See Nexus, see any number of examples). I'll youtube HHH/Punk and read the reports about Wyatt/Cena, if Bray wins I'll youtube it. If you include one random Diva match, tag title match thats 7 matches of the card already set. What do you do with Ziggler, ADR, all 3 members of the Shield, (Insert other part timers here), Henry, Cody Rhodes, Golddust, Big Show (heard he broke his hand and thus why last night happened), Miz, Kofi, (insert celebrity match), Usos, Real Americans, Big E, among others.

The writing is so lazy with this card and makes no one better for it (except arguably Punk but they had this chance once before and remember how that turned out). I'm taking another sabbatical from WWE, I'll watch a couple reviews of Raw and see if I really care about Elimination Chamber.

It will have to dig pretty deep to top Miz vs Cena because that was all about the Rock and Cena.

    Re: Official WWE Thread

I have so many issues with WWE right now. First off, if Triple H's goal is to legitimize the tag team division, then why in the name of all that is good and right would you give the belts to the New Age Outlaws??? I realize they're Hunter's guys, but good Lord they're old! They better drop the belts either tonight or at Elimination Chamber. Second, why are they pushing the Wyatt Family? None of them are all that good. Third, why waste one of Brock Lesnar's dates on the Big Show? Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Fourth, when is the CM Punk vs the Authority angle really going to begin? We're waiting. Lastly, they (meaning Vince, Stephanie, and Mr. Stephanie) need to decide whether they're going to really push Daniel Bryan or just have him in random feuds that never lead anywhere. He's as over as you can get (possibly as much as Austin was back in the Attitude Era), yet they put him in feuds that don't do a thing for him in terms of wearing a strap.

Now on to Mania: Taker vs Lesnar won't happen because Taker can't work with (due to his various ailments) someone as stiff in the ring as Lesnar. Taker vs. Sting (if he is indeed signed to WWE) would be the more logical match. Orton vs Batista is fine since they (meaning "the Authority") are probably going to make Batista the new "face of the WWE" due to the way Randy has been "acting" lately. Bray Wyatt vs Cena shouldn't happen. Have Cena win at Elimination Chamber and make the title match a 3 way dance. Punk vs Trips will happen, but they had better start pushing it now (Heaven forbid they start a storyline well before Mania so that it makes sense. Also, they had better bring HBK back since he can't not get involved in a Triple H Mania storyline). I've also heard Sheamus vs Bryan as a rematch from when Sheamus beat him for the strap in 18 seconds. What I would love to see is a tag team take on the Real Americans for the belts, but said tag team have Hogan in their corner (since WWE can't medically clear him to get physical in any way). Would love to see Ultimate Warrior get involved in a match somehow.

    Not getting Mania? For $10?

    Shit.

They're getting my money, despite the lack of interest I have in any matches on the planned card.
