Watching some old Smackdowns on the Network with Cena's first match and one of his earlier ones a few weeks later (both against Kurt Angle and before the rap gimmick heel turn)

It's kinda strange now seeing him as the upstart rookie.

It was pretty clear he had something from the beginning. Hard to believe that after that match and a mini-feud where Jericho jobbed to him a couple times, he was pretty useless until the end of October of that year.

(He jobbed to Billy Kidman at the UK PPV.)

    Re: Official WWE Thread

Anyones thoughts on Mania? My biggest gripe is that there is only 8 matches (counting the pre show) for a 4+ hour show. Thats a LOT of time. Couldn't you have fit in a Rhodes battle or done something with Big E defending just to give another match or two to not put too much pressure on a limited card?

    My prediction for card structure:
Tag Team Pre Show Title Match: Who cares. Uso's probably retain. This is where Uso's should have won it from the NAO IMO. You could still have a #1 contenders match guarenteeing people a showing with millions of people watching. If the Uso's aren't retaining its gotta be the Real Americans. I'm hoping this is where they have Cesaro's face turn.
Andre Memorial: If they aren't going to go somewhere with this I expect Big Show to win. Like the tag match used to get a bunch of guys some screen time
HHH vs Daniel Bryan (winner goes on to Main Event): What should happen Daniel Bryan makes HHH tap 100% clean, what the WWE will probably do... some stupid double ko/dq and both are put in the match making it a fatal four way.
Authority vs Shield: Final breakup of the Shield? I still think WWE would be leaving money on the table with Shield merch a little longer. I don't think they break up here so I think Reigns gets the pin on Kane.
Cena vs Bray Wyatt: another match that will show me if HHH taking control has really changed anything. WWE HAS to start making some new true stars. This is a perfect chance to take their arguably #2 heel (and 2nd hottest guy period) and make him a legit player for YEARS. Bray Wyatt pins Cena.
Diva Battle Royal: Bathroom break. Who should win? Probably Natalya, the bedazzler (Naomi), or Tamina. Who will win? Probably which ever Bella is marrying Daniel Bryan.
Taker vs Lesnar:I'm Geeking out seeing Taker just like I have the last 4 years. The streak is one of the main reasons I still watch what clearly are worse manias. Lesnar has the athleticism to carry Taker IMO. Won't steal the show like Lesnar/Punk or Taker/Michaels. Taker isn't going to drop the streak for a part timer 22-0.
Title Match: If this match main events Daniel Bryan is winning. If something comes after this (Taker/Lesnar) then WWE is about to piss off hundreds of thousands of fans. I think DB pins Orton, Orton goes away for a bit, and DB and Bautista fued through the summer.

Curve ball: CM Punk comes back and screws Daniel Bryan sasying it should be him there.
If that happens CM Punk immediately takes over the mantle of #1 heel and he is launched to heights that his title reign only dreamed of doing.

Seriously though ending site is Bree (i think) and DB in the ring both with their titles circa WM 20.

I've been of the understanding Vince is still pulling the strings on the main roster.

We may not see HHH's true influence until the old man kicks the bucket.

Maybe a better way to phrase it is... we get to see just how much influence HHH has in booking/creative. The cleaner the win by Wyatt the stronger the influence of HHH?

Stone Cold Steve Austin confirmed for WrestleMania.

Somewhere I can hear JR screaming: "STONE COLD!" "STONE COLD!"

The Rock is also expected to make an appearance (probably via satellite). My issue is where is "Mr. WrestleMania"? Usually, HBK has already made his annual pre-Mania return.

no chance. while i think its totally counterproductive to cut the wyatt's legs off right now, cena is definitely coming out on top.

i could still see wwe being so delusional about cena... that they kick off the show with hhh/bryan, have that end in a double dq... taker/lesnar mid show, womens title, then spotlight dave walking out with the title as the co-main... ending the show with cena overcoming the odds once again. i hope not, but i dont put it past them.

this is a 4 hour show right? figure a half hour for bryan/hhh, a half hour for taker/lesnar, a half hour for the title match and a half hour for cena/wyatt... thats already half the show. the battle royal is gonna have to get time, plus you know theres gonna be a couple special entrances... taker, cena and wyatt i would presume. i think the card is about right, with time constraints.

I think Wyatt's going over, actually, because one heel has to win. Cena can always overcome the odds next month in a 3 on 1 match.

I've been trying to avoid the betting odds because I don't want to be spoiled, but someone posted them on Scott Keith's blog, and if the show goes that way...I'd be quite pleased.

I actually enjoyed Mr T's speech more than I thought I would.

Jake Roberts was the best one of the night just because of how real it was.

jake stole the show. it seemed like they cut hall off a little bit, which is a shame. mr t was an absolute train wreck, and had so much unintentional comedy. and yea... carlito was awesome too. i lasted til about 12:30... every time i thought warrior was gonna end, hed go on another tangent about the dvd. i finally had to go to sleep, i couldnt take it anymore.
