Eh, I enjoyed it.

Former heel getting cheered for what he was getting booed for previously is long standing wrestling cliched tradition that I have no problem letting slide for the sake of suspended belief. I like that, despite the apparent double standard in terms of reactions, it's actually consistent with the character and angle. And heck, once Rusev's done squashing Swagger they can transition smoothly back to heel if they want to go back there with no break in consistency. For once we have a turn that doesn't require breaking consistency in the character like Orton suddenly respecting his opponents for example.

Besides, even when they were full on heel the crowd would boo the hell out of them yet still go crazy chanting along with "WE! THE PEOPLE!". That chant was insane now that they're going face with it.

And really, if you think about it, the crowd reaction isn't really unbelievable.

Yeah, they know he's a xenophobic dick, but when you have a foreigner on and his valet on their anti-America high horse equally dickish kick and suddenly the music of the guys you know hates all things anti-American hits despite your hatred for them you know they're going to come out and want to put them in their place.

Subetly take out any references to hating the crowd themselves and it's actually a smoother transition than it seems on the surface.

edit: The more I think about it the more I think it actually makes perfect sense. I mean, in what other angle can you have a well established heel's music hit and everyone cheers instead of booing before he even comes out from the back? Zeb and Swagger have been pushed heavily as heels for about two years now yet the second their music hit everyone was cheering because, despite all of that, they knew what was coming.

The "WE! THE PEOPLE!" chants were loud even when they were booing them outside of that part. This was insane with it being behind a face push.
