2014 Mid-Season AL Manager of the Year

I think this is a pretty good list. Stacked even, at this point in the year. But despite some upstarts and perhaps unforeseen early performances, Bob Melvin does some serious crazy work with all the platoon and match up stuff he trots out. So.

    Again, good list.

i gotta go with melvin. i expected oakland to be solid... did not expect them to be, more or less, a runaway for the best team in the league.

I always seem to fail in giving Oakland their props year after year, so they it this time.

They turn junk into Balco Moss. Beane is into voodo and black magic, pretty sure that was cut out of the Brad Pitt movie.

McClendon, without a doubt. M's have the second best run differential in the majors, it's amazing how this team has team performed this season.
    Go Mariners!

Totally a homer pick by my part, but what Gibbons has had to deal with, and keeping the team in first is a miracle in Toronto.

Raise your hand if you thought the Mariners would be 8 games above .500 or even at .500? Anyone?

Even as a Mariners fan, the best I expected at this point would be right around .500. And although Cano hasn't had power, I would think he would've declined to about the .270 to .280 range. With a rotation of Felix-Iwakuma-Young/Walker/Paxton this team could do some serious damage if they make the playoffs.

Considering they went out and took the biggest name in free agency and have probably the 2nd best pitcher in the majors behind Kershaw I'm not entirely shocked.

This was a team that was at the bottom in runs scored with sans James Jones and Morrison. The same bunch of underachievers.
