Unlikely he was going to make the starting rotation, anyway. Could have used the extra depth in the bullpen, but it's no big loss with how strong the rest of the pen is.
he could've beat out Drese or Ortiz... maybe

He'd need to beat out 2 of Drese/Ortiz/Armas Jr. I like Lawrence, but no way he'd be doing that.
I just hope he comes back from the injury with a 99 MPH fastball.

Is the home site missing someone or something?
If it's not, it appears he'd only have to beat out 1 of the 3.

Jon Rauch, who I think will basically be the run-away choice in ST (if he keeps it up) for the 3rd guaranteed spot, because he has been fantabulous in his innings so far for the Nats.
Lawrence was looking towards a new start, in probably the best pitchers park in baseball. A team that was looking to improve, and made some big moves this offseason towards winning the NL East. The trade was a win for the Nationals, who didn't need Castilla with top prospect Zimmerman waiting in the wings, and they needed some experienced pitching. Hopefully, it won't take Lawrence a long time to rehab, and he will be back during the All-Star break.
RFK's spacious surroundings wouldn't really effect BLaw's effectiveness much.
He's a ground ball pitcher.

well, looks like he's out all season now.
Don't know where he got it from, because DK has a bad habbit of not linking what he quotes.
Brian Lawrence was found to have extensive tears in both his labrum and rotator cuff during surgery today. He'll likely miss the season. Lawrence isn't expected to resume throwing for 12 weeks, and then it will just be light rehab at first. A September return would be a possibility, but it's unlikely. That means it's almost certain that the Nationals will decline his option for 2007, making him a free agent. Feb. 26 - 9:18 pm et
