Nationals signed RHP Livan Hernandez to a one-year extension worth $1 million plus incentives.
This one makes a whole lot of sense for both sides. Hernandez, 35, is 9-9 with a 3.49 ERA in 27 starts covering 175 1/3 innings. Livo, however, had a tough time finding a contract in the offseason and settled on a minor-league contract with the Nationals that ended up netting him just $900,000. He doesn't strike many batters out, but the veteran innings eater has displayed typically stellar control with a 2.8 walk rate.
