Free Agent Adam Dunn to the Nationals: Project Cincinnati East almost complete.

Two year deal, cash not yet announced.

It seems like with Abreu signed, well below expected asking price, Dunn took his best offer. It'll be cringe worthy to see him slug against some of his former teammates in GAB but I am happy he is going to a franchise who will make him an important cog to a team. True it's a bad team, but for a franchise that will hopefully embrace Dunn and a fresh start (with old friends like his best bud Austin Kearns), Dunn will flourish.

    Good luck in Washington Adam.

(Thankfully it wasn't the Cubs or the Astros, I would have had trouble with that.)

First mention of $$$ I've heard is 2 years, $20 million... but I don't exactly trust the source 100% so we'll have to wait and see on that rumor.

$20 million sounds about right. Its good for the Nationals to get a name and a lot of thump in that lineup. I was shocked to see him take a two year deal but $10 million is $10 million. Hard to pass up. So much for the Dodgers Plan B. Good signing for the Nats who will likely have an OF of Dunn, Milledge and Willingham.

Washington should just sign all of the left over veterans, they could form a competitive team and fans might go out to see ManRam and Dunn. They could sign Pedro too as a carnival attraction.

One thing is for sure, the Nats won't be last in HRs this year. Pedro wouldn't be a bad signing for the Nats.

So who do you think he will be traded to at the trade deadline, 2010?

Re: Adam Dunn to the Nationals: Project Cincinnati East almost complete.

He's a patient hitter, that rare player who hits a lot of homers and draws a lot of walks.

"It's boring to watch. I watch video. I know. I fast-forward myself all the time," he said with a smile.
"I wish I was a lot more aggressive at the plate, but I gave up on that because I've tried that and it doesn't work. I just kind of go up there with a plan. And if I get the pitch, swing. And if not, see you at first."

Here he paused, then poked fun at his penchant for striking out by adding: "Or the dugout."
Got to love Dunn's attitude. Loathed in Cincinnati, for whatever reason, by the common fan but even if the Reds start winning, they would have better clubhouse chemistry had Dunn remained.

Sad to see the era end officially, as many of us held out hope he would return in the offseason as the Reds are now left with a void of 60-70 homers, but I am glad he is going to a team where he can make his mark.

For such a patient hitter, he can't really hit.

You know of any other 4 million dollar .900 OPS players? Please contact Walt Jocketty in Cincinnati.

    Thank you.
