Jose Guillen has a completely torn UCL in his right elbow. He'll undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the rest of the season.
So much for the crowded Nationals' outfield. Unless an Alfonso Soriano trade brings back another outfielder, the Nationals might go with a Ryan Church/Luis Matos platoon in left, Alex Escobar in center and Austin Kearns in right for the rest of the year. Marlon Byrd might also factor in somehow, and depending on how Church works out, the club could try Double-A Harrisburg's Kory Casto in left by mid-August or September. Guillen, a free agent at season's end, will likely have to take a one-year deal in the offseason. It's not very likely that he'll return to Washington.
Wonder where he'll end up.
