I would have liked B-More (OM is not the only O's fan left... just the only O's fan left with any time to post)... but I would stick with Detroit.. only other team I would consider would be Washington, since I just landed my new job here in DC.. but I have always liked a DH league

    League Proposal:

    AL East:
    Baltimore - OriolesMagic
    Boston - BrewerBall
    New York - Hammer
    Tampa Bay - General

    AL Central:
    Chicago (A) - Leo
    Cleveland - Nick
    Detroit - DD
    Kansas City - contract
    Minnesota - contract
    Toronto - HiG

    AL West:
    Los Angeles (A) - KOZ
    Oakland - Prov
    Seattle - Porter
    Texas - Doppel

    NL East:
    Atlanta -
    Florida - Mission
    New York (N) - LJShorty
    Philadelphia - CJ
    Washington - Contract

    NL Central:
    Chicago (N) -
    Cincinnati -
    Houston - contract
    Milwaukee - contract
    Pittsburgh -
    St. Louis -

    NL West:
    Arizona -
    Colorado - contract
    Los Angeles - Mofo
    San Diego -
    San Francisco - WesKim

    Six contracted teams are:

    Kansas City
    Minnesota
    Washington
    Houston
    Milwaukee
    Colrado

    Contraction draft thread ordered by:

    Option #1 - 2009 MLB draft order
Option #2 - 2010 MLB Draft order (wont be set for another 2-3 weeks)
    Option #3 - random order

Once you delete/contract the franchise, it should dump all the players into the FA pool. (I don't know if the new game allows for a contraction draft any other way. I know this is how I did it in 6.5)

Then you kick off a contraction draft thread. Hopefully everyone will be able to pick their first rounder. It would be nice to then set a 2nd and 3rd round list draft each night allowing GMs to send you a list (1-24) for each round to pick from. Once the top 72 players are selected from 6 teams... the rest should be of negligible value and can be handled through either you autoing another 2 rounds or just opening up bidding via FA depending on the value of players left over.

    AL East:
    Baltimore - OriolesMagic
    Boston - BrewerBall
    New York - Hammer
    Tampa Bay - General

    AL Central:
    Chicago (A) - Leo
    Cleveland - Nick
    Detroit - DD
    Toronto - HiG

    AL West:
    Los Angeles (A) - KOZ
    Oakland - Prov
    Seattle - Porter
    Texas - Doppel

    NL East:
    Atlanta -
    Florida - Mission
    New York (N) - LJShorty
    Philadelphia - CJ

    NL Central:
    Chicago (N) -
    Cincinnati -
    Pittsburgh -
    St. Louis -

    NL West:
    Arizona -
    Los Angeles - Mofo
    San Diego -
    San Francisco - WesKim

My league has 24 teams and I find it much easier to run than a full 30, especially with the limited activity of some GMs.

Also, DON'T forget to re-generate a new schedule with 24 teams or it will screw things up royally. LOL

Just an idea... I think we have a few unassigned GMs and could start pretty soon leaving 2-4 franchises open...

Foster would want to bring back the Expos if its contracted. You have to factor that in. And you have to also make sure all the team numbers match up with the correct team in the reports I believe.

I'd personally contract San Diego or Pittsburgh, before contracting Milwaukee or Minnesota. Well, I prefer no contractions! None! Fill it ALL up!

Plus Zod needs a team, DMB needs to awake from his slumber and pick a team, and we need to slot Saber somewheres. And so on. Obviously if contracting is the inevitable, then that's that, but I think we need to fill 'er up as much as possible.

I assume you're talking about contracting with OOTP 10. that certainly needs to be done for 6.5, but I'm not sure how the newer versions have the files named and such. Nick would have to look at the files and try to figure it out. also, that may be something that fixed with the newer versions. he could just try it with another file and see what it does.

Porter, What do you mean by this? I don't understand.

KoZ, No gripes from me about which teams get contracted. I am in favor of contraction only because I know firsthand what it is like to run a 30 team league with 10 active GMs and 6 minimally active GMs. I think after Zodious and Saber are plugged in... that leaves 4 open teams as opposed to ten. Honestly, I look at the list of GMs and see a few GMs who are very inconsistent in their activity. I know life happens. It is just a fact we should accept and just go with a smaller, but more robust league. 24 teams works with the same playoff format and it allows each team to take on probably one more elite player or prospect and 2 more serviceable MLB players. What makes a league a drag at times is seeing an All star languishing on an inactive team or worse yet seeing a prospect in Single A for six years... I think we should try for a strong balance of size and activity. The 24 team format should fit the active GMs on this board very nicely.

If youre going to get rid of 2 central teams why not the Pirates over Milwaukee? Milwaukee actually has a decent core for someone to build onto.

Pittsburgh on the other hand... not so much.

    Re: (Early) team interest thread..

Well, going from your list OM, there's 13 open teams. Let's give Slyder, Saber, Zod, DMB(I know he's the butt of my jokes but he did put together a nice team in tpsl), NYGF teams and ask Haf if he wants to return. That leaves 7 open teams. If we truly wanted to consider contracting, we'd need one more GM for a proposed 24 team league. Better than that maybe, if we got 3 more and had 26 teams (12/14 split).

I still think we should try a full league before we bring out the scissors. If we contract, the talent per team is going to increase and the level of talent in the last league concerned some, so we want to avoid any perceived notions of a stacked league (I personally think the talent level in tpsl is perfect). From there we go through the tedious process of either have a contraction draft or the ugly idea of blind bid free agency. There's a lot of work rolled up into contraction for a commissioner of a sim league, I think it would just be unnecessary.

Also, we start venturing into drastically moving divisions around, changing names, etc. and I think nick does not want to become another SBSL. I certainly don't.

I'd like to stay around, though as far from being the Indians as possible.

Pittsburgh would be my choice if possible.
