    2018 FA Comp List:

This is as of now. As players re-sign leading up to whenenver we roll over, I will knock their names off the list. I know that comp status may impact whether or not these guys are re-signed, so I wanted to get this out sooner than later.

If it seems like I've missed anyone, just point it out and I'll check it out. Sometimes it's easy to overlook a player or two. If someone on your team has stats/ratings to qualify for type-a or type-b, but was injured this season and missed time resulting in insufficient ABs, let me know. I don't know who has been injured and who has not, with the exception of those I listed below as injury exceptions...

    TYPE A:
    OF Brett Gardner, NYY
    3B Aramis Ramirez, TB
    1B Adrian Gonzalez, CHW
    SP Jeremy Sowers, CLE*
    1B/OF Miguel Cabrera, FLA*
    3B David Wright, FLA

    TYPE B:
    SP Justin Masterson, BOS
    CL Jon Papelbon, BOS
    CF Jacoby Ellsbury, BOS
    MR Jeff Marquez, NYY
    MR Christian Jackson, NYY
    DH/OF Vernon Wells, TOR
    SP Yusmeiro Petit, TOR
    OF Jason Kubel, CHW
    C Wyatt Torregas, CLE
    1B Casey Kotchman, DET
    2B Ian Kinsler, KC
    SP Jon Garland, KC
    SP Dice-K, KC
    SP Chuck Tiffany, MIN
    C Jarrod Saltym, LAA
    1B Carlos Pena, LAA
    1B Michael Taylor, PHI
    1B/3B Kevin Youkilis, PHI
    2B Brandon Phillips, CIN
    SP John Maine, HOU
    1B Nick Evans, PIT
    C Miguel Montero, ARI
    OF Dexter Fowler, ARI
    C Russell Martin, LAN

    *Injury exception

jeeze. So much shit on that list, LOL. Skip Shumaker! Who knew he was even in the league still? I should maybe modify the ratings system a little- especially for pitchers- before next offseason..
I'm not rushing into free agency or rolling over right after the World Series ends, like I have in the past. I'd like to try to fill the openings first. This should give everyone more than enough time to look into re-signing any players you need to.

As for the draft, since it may effect how you view comp, i.e. re-signing comp elligible players and/or targetting comp players during the FA period..
I will not be editting it in order to beef it up. I am going to see if I can get a little more pitching opposed to offense to generate with the class (based on the modifiers, I figure I should be able to do this ok and not have to edit anything). If it rolls over with more hitting than pitching anyway, I will fix it up manually. Otherwise, I have no intentions of changing the draft except maybe adding a few funny nicknames here & there. It should be about the same talent level as last year, maybe a bit less even.

While I'm at it, happy birthday america, and thanks for shitting me out 20 some years ago to this day and making my life worthless enough to spend an hour typing up fantasy baseball stuff when I should be out getting some ***** pregnant or wobbling around like a retard with a bunch of retards like everyone else I know.

injury exception for Ryan Madson? He missed 10 1/2 weeks this season. 8,9,8,6 out of 9,10,8,6 that would be 52 points (8+9+8+9+10+8).

    Re: 2018 FA Comp List:

    Sure, why not.

I'm going to list him on the comp list as a SP, because he likely would have accumulated type-B status as a SP had he not gone down (that's on the assumption he would've remained a starter, I suppose... maybe he would've been moved to the pen eventually anyway, but I think he would've qualified if he was starting during those 10 weeks)

actually, doesn't he make class B anyway due to his MR 58 innings and the ratings?

    Re: 2018 FA Comp List:

Nah, I don't think he pitched enough barely, I think class B is like.. 60 IP or 50 appearances or some shit. But I'll check again anyway.

... I had it up on my screen for about 30 minutes, you'd think I'd remember...

it doesn't matter now anyway since he lowered his price. I can live with $2.21 mil x 1 year. He should be good for part of next year and OK the rest.

    Re: 2018 FA Comp List:

FYI, I re-signed Schumaker & Billingsley for STL and knocked 'em off the list. Both to 1-year deals, which is what they were requesting. I don't think either would have been signed during FA, and STL's team is already pretty thin already going into next year.

Whats the status of Brandon Crawford?

I did sign him to a one year deal and he was an arby. If I was to cut him and leave it at the original 1 yr deal would he receive comp?

arby cuts aren't eligible for comp because they are under team control and not FA-to-be. that's been addressed before.

    Re: 2018 FA Comp List:

because someone cut him before. he's not a FA-to-be. if he becomes a FA, it will be because you cut him. you don't have to cut him as he is under team control. there's no comp for that.

    Re: 2018 FA Comp List:

Pretty much what Prov said, porter. They have to accumulate their service time and become FAs naturally to collect comp. although I never really wrote that in the FAQ or anywhere, I know I've addressed this once or twice before.

    Re: 2018 FA Comp List:

Updated the list to reflect re-signs so far. Would like to fill the GM slots before we start FA, but not sure if that will happen. Either way, the deadline for extensions/cuts won't be for a few more days...
