Harrell does not qualify in any manner.. innings, ERA, ratings, etc.
Ellsbury, same thing, doesn't meet ratings or performance. I'm just going by teams in order, not picking on Boston.

Marshall: MILSWANCAs?
Ted: Wait, I can get this. Mothers I'd like to sleep with and never call again.

You might be right about Harrell, but Ellsbury should qualify with his baserunning..

Mathis shouldn't be an injury exception since he doesn't have the ratings and has not had the minimum plate appearances since 2012

2.) Add "Talent" and "Overall" ratings including contact, gap, eye/discipline, and avoid k's. That's still everything EXCEPT the power category. In place of it, add the player's running speed and stealing ability. Total for class A is 80, class B is 75.
Ellsbury, when you sub speed for power, adds up to 77 points.

I also just noticed Salty lost talent this past sim (power), and now doesn't have enough points to be included due to ratings.
Take him off, yeah? It happened in the very last sim... lol

Brad Thompson falls a point short of qualifying and doesn't come close to the stats.

I wasn't sure if he was their starter or not this year. Theoretically if he was starting and didn't get hurt, he would've probably qualified on plate appearances. But it looks like Cervelli was the starter anyway, and Mathis has been backup for awhile. I'll drop him from the list.

Ellsbury has average power at 6 which is not miniscule, that's a real cop out for a guy like that. He shouldn't be come close to ever being a comp guy for any league but that's your ruling.

Last sim eh? Hmm, I'd defer to you cause he was a solid class B type otherwise.

While I probably wouldn't list him as anything if I handed out comp, Gardner qualifies as type-A for the same reason. Which is pretty bad for a guy like Gardner, but I'm just going by what we've been using. There's going to be a few duds in there each year because of the inclusion of ratings. But if you leave out ratings entirely, a lot of guys who have down years get scammed.
It's a trade off, but if I start ruling yes for certain players, and no for others it leaves too much of a grey area. Just going by what it says in the FAQ. I might look into fixing the ratings qualifications before next offseason, but I don't want to change too much.

I think we should tweak but not overhaul the qualifications to better the overall list. Some guys are squeaking by or falling short, so it would cut the number of players but more likely it would be a better list of players. I would make class B hitters for example, had 450 or 475 abs but still have the injury exception stuff. Ratings on SPs might need to be a little higher if guys like the Petits of the world are getting in. You've got it at 55, so maybe 60? MR looks fine, we have a lot of crappy relievers statistically but still have good ratings. That's just typical of any league.
On Sowers, do you want to make him a comp A injury exception.. he missed 7 weeks but is also typically a sub 3.70 ERA guy (career even with 2017 is 3.63)

Mattair just misses by 1 point rating wise, and .20 points ops wise. ouch

I agree with the tweak and overhaul idea completely. I don't want to impliment anything until the next offseason, so this list is what it is, but I do agree. SP should be tweaked-- it's 55 and 50 now? 60 and 55 would work good. And it would also keep a lot of old dudes who just keep getting in after shitty years due to never losing their ratings, but obviously their statistically output has declined. John Maine is a good example. He's been comp elligible every time he's a FA, and this year is no different. He's just kept his ratings intact nicely, but the production has obviously fallen off.
