Starters
1. LF Trevor Pippen, 10-7-6-5-7
2. 3B Chase Headley, 10-8-7-6-6
3. SS Bryce Harper, 10-9-9-8-8
4. RF Matt Holliday, 9-9-10-6-5
5. 1B John Smith, 8-9-10-10-8
6. CF Colby Rasmus, 8-7-10-9-5
7. C Jarrod Saltamalacchia, 9-8-10-6-6
8. Oscar Aguiar, 10-6-2-7-8
Contact, that's how you form a decent offense at Petco. Go contact-based, hope for a few homeruns. (Salty and his 10 power resulted in a total of... wait for it...... 10 homeruns). I'm hoping Harper finally breaks out, he's primed to do so.
Bench:
C Chris Iannetta, 9-8-7-7-7
2B Amado Veliz, 9-7-6-5-6
3B Alex Gordon, 8-9-8-7-6 (starts at 3B against LHP)
SS Destin Hood, 7-9-10-7-6
CF Desmond Jennings, 9-9-4-8-7
Yeah, my bench owns you. I signed Veliz to replace Pedroia. The Headley/Gordon platoon turned out to be amazing.
Rotation:
1. Michael Inoa, 10-10-10
2. Ryan Tucker, 10-7-8
3. Juniichi Tazawa, 5-10-9
4. Sonny Gray, 10-6-8
5. Ricky Nolasco, 8-9-8
Hate it. Absolutely despise it. Tazawa is garbage now, Gray was on to something before an injury knocked him cold, and Nolasco.. cannot wait for 2018 to cut the ****er. But there's always Dellin Betances! Inoa is one of those guys in real life, maybe like Matt Cain for example, that rarely ever gets run support. Tucker is solid, consistent at the very least. I am seriously considering Brett Cecil, just to see what he could do now as a starter but then I'd have to find someone to replace him in the pen. Hurry up, Olsen.
Pen:
MR Dellin Betances, 10-7-6
MR Barry Zito, 8-7-10
MR Taylor Tankersley, 6-9-10
MR Brett Cecil, 9-9-8
SU Jeffrey Dick, 9-8-9
CL Casey Weathers, 10-9-10
I'm undecided on the last spot in the pen. Might give Betances a try after his talent boosts. There's also Lynwood Hall, Rafael Gonzalez, and the corpse of Shadow Jones. Hurry up and develop Kenneth Olsen!
I really need to add a starting pitcher but I don't think that's happening anytime soon. Right now, best bet is to keep everything intact mostly for another year, it's paid off with two winning seasons and an actual fan base. Veliz has been my only signing, then again, I'm not about to be a douchebag and give 4 plus ERA pitchers tons of money. It's just not kosher!
Won 89 last season, slipped at the end. I have the lineup to beat LA and Arizona, but they have pitching depth. Arizona doesn't have a pen but they have a 5-man that's tough to deal with and their closer is also a starter. LA has even better pitching, as long as they stay healthy. The other two teams are ran largely by dolts, they're of no concern. I'll finish third again, in another tight race.
