Future Plans For Next Year's All Star Game and Beyond (ideas)...

This is just an idea, and I think it could be fun if we do it right.

LIVE BROADCAST San Diego @ St. Louis - Out of the Park Baseball Report

View that first and foremost. That is a game broadcasting live in FTP (no, it is not from the actual file, it is from a back-up...).

With this feature, every time I run a play on OOTP (for example, pitch.. intentional bb... etc.) it will show up on the site I showed (although, such a site would change for each game, so it's not as if game2011 in this case would be a permanent link for this sort of thing) and refresh in your browser, giving you the in-game PBP.

I was thinking maybe the winner of the AL and the winner of the NL at the end of the year would get to manage the All-Star game the following season. We could do the PBP live in flashchat between the two GMs, or on a chat program like AIM chatroom or something if people preffered. Anyone would be welcome to join and watch.

If the selected GMs (two World Series teams) do not want to take part or have something that interfears, they can pick their replacement.

The two GMs who are in charge of managing their teams, also compile All-Stars for their squad as well, with a rule being that there must be 1-player from each team at the least (of course more can be chosen if deserving), and no more than 4 players chosen from your own squad (and only 4 if they are all deserving, of course). You fill out 24 players on the roster, and the forum gets to vote off of a ballot of potentials who missed out for a wildcard to fill out the roster. If a GM abuses the selection process, they will be denied from participating. There is common sense in this, but I feel I need to reaffirm that, because with two people picking their own all-star teams it has a potential to be a disaster or brilliant, and I'd rather it work out the latter.

Note that these are all ideas I'm working with. They don't need to be permanent, but I think it could make the All-Star game more fun and give it more of a point. For a game that decides home field advantage in the World Series, I figure it could be worth doing something like this. I realize it's obviously dreaming if I expect everyone to come to a flashchat or AIM chat for something like this, but a lot of people came to the last draft and I didn't expect that either. You wouldn't neccesarily have to participate, you'd be guaranteed an all-star, and it would give people something other than the draft to do midseason.

Let me know how many of you guys would like something like this. And also, I know Crazy has been toying with some all-star game ideas, and if I have used any he has already come up with I apologize to you crazy :P. I basically winged most of this (besides the broadcasting in FTP, I've had that in mind and wanted to suggest it for about a week), so if our ideas are similar, it's just coincidence. I know you're using the all-star editor, and if people like the idea of the GM picking the all-stars with the barometors I provided, I'll probably use the editor too. Hopefully it runs smoothly.

i love the idea nick. i wanted to do the ootp play by play feature in the sbsl, but somebody cougencoughercoughalcough lost the commisioner password before sending me the file. so i can't use internet mode without locking myself out of the file.
