    Re: real col-sea trade

I still think porters giving up on Holliday too soon, but it's his choice.... like I've said before, unless it's a noob getting jakkkkkkked, I generally don't care anymore. You guys are both good GMs, you can work out your deals without me vetoing...

    pass.

That being said... I never imagined you'd get that much for Marmol.

edit- Huber's 2.5 stars though, not 1.0.... doesn't matter to me either way because reliever ratings seem to change a lot, but I just wanted to edit that.

who the hell is Chris Marmol? oh, and thanks for letting me know that you took another offer GF lol.

Oh, and FYI Nick...the game won't let that go through. "Cash" doesn't technically go into salaries the way they think it will...it goes into the "cash" category. The game is going to say Col doesn't have enough money to do the deal. The players' salaries have to equal out. Talent-wise, I'll pass it, but from my experiences the game won't pass it through.

It's Robert Santo and Carlos Marmol, you ****ing morons. I should veto the deal on that principle.

Anyway, this is a much better deal for Colorado, but I don't really care, pass as long as you guys settle the $$ situation
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

what's funny is that I've explained that to GF before so he must think I'm lying or something. I said it's not my rule, but how the game works. I've never had a deal like that go through the game. Let us know Nick, but I'll shocked if the game allows it.

    Re: real col-sea trade

prov I don't think you're lying. a) I thought the rule you always explain to me is you can't give more than a third of a players' salary in cash. What's the point of that rule if the cash doesn't go to a salary in the first place? b) I figured since I was dealing with someone like Porter, who's very experienced, that he would know what the deal was. The cash thing was his idea

And I'm sorry Prov for letting you know I had another deal. It came up very fast and I couldn't resist it. That's my fault and bad PR, and I apologize.

    Re: real col-sea trade

I explained that rule as well, but I also have explained where "cash" goes and how it's used as both of those situations came up in the different variations of that deal. It's just how the game works. Who knows, it may go through. We'll see what Nick says when he tries to do it. In my experiences the game will say "not enough money" to do the deal in this scenario (where a team has $0 FA money and is trying to take on salary regardless of "cash" being sent). Again, it's just a limitation of the game. Money being sent goes into "cash" and that's used for draft picks and promo days.

It is also used at the end of the year if a team lost money (player expenses > revenue) to balance out that deficit. That's the reason you'll see teams have less than the default "cash" at the start of the season. For example, Boston lost money last year and now they have negative cash because the game tried to compensate for that. The game will also only let you have down to negative $5 mil in cash. And if you have that little cash, the game won't let you sign some draft picks. That's why I always edit the negative "cash" team to $0 at the start of the season. My team made money, so our "cash" got replenished to the default $5 mil in this league.

    Re: real col-sea trade

Anybody explain to me why this is a passable deal? Holliday and a pitching prospect for crap and a closer? Someone please justify dealing a 9-9-10-6-6 hitter and a 8-7-8 prospect for a closer and a 8-8-3-4-8 prospect. I know we've come to expect this shit from GF, but give me a break.

Clearly it's not shit if an extremely experienced GM in Porter agreed to it and everyone on the TC is passing it

looks alright to me. i might like prior a bit more than anybody else... not that he has a great ceiling, but this league isnt set where 33 automatically = death. he could last until hes 38... or he could die tomorrow... but those are the risks you take. colorado is getting a better end of this, i think it would be closer if they took out the 8/7/8 pitcher, but who am i to nitpick like that. to me, its not close enough to fail... i think its advantageous to one side, but its not completely rape, to me, so i dont see that i should fail it. on the other hand though, ive never really been one of those to shoot down deals that are semi close, its up to gms to learn the hard way if theyre ****ing up or not.
