Yeah, I don't think the cap is a problem at all.

I think, as Pasta Ziti said, it's the randomness of the engine. You can look at MSL and get an idea of where things stand. TBL? Good luck!

Not an indictment on Trendy, its more the setup of the game.

But it offers an incredible challenge, so that's good too.

The engine is kinda out of whack, but the thing that bugs me is that I set it up with MSLs engine, and the test sims never showed such pitching dominance.

Can the hitting engine be adjusted without sacrificing the pitching side of things? It's been so long since I've screwed around with 6.5. I'm used to the newer versions. At least give hitters some steroids for Heaven's sake.

I think then you risk running into problems that the league prior to Trendy taking over experienced when things were drastically changed and shit went downhill.

I'm saying it's a concern but I wouldn't want to suddenly change everything because that punishes people that have adapted to the craziness we already have. What would be good is if we saw better development in the positional prospects. It's been mentioned before but there's an alarming number of platoon exclusive players out there coupled with poor or slow development, compared to pitching. But I don't know if that can be fixed or altered and if it can, I don't know if that drastically changes things.

There is definitely a risk with messing around with the engine. Anyone who was around when General took over HSL should remember that.

There are separate settings for development of hitters and pitchers.

I've been slowly tinkering with that, and I feel it's shown some improvement. I just don't want to mess with it too much.

My biggest gripe is always that there's so many cases of talent loses like what happened to Cruz and Borchering (I mention them cause they were on my team). Borchering was like 21 and fully developed in contact until the playoffs started then he takes a contact hit not just a minor one but a major one going from 9 talent to 6, never understood talent hits like that without injury. Cruz (and I think Josh Hamilton is another example) was like 30 with 8 con 10+ power esque and coming off a really strong season same postseason took a massive hit to where he is today, granted he gave me a decent couple seasons afterwards but looking at similar talent Cruz is the exception to the rule.

I actually like the overall setup (with the cap), except for some of the development, of this league because its different than the others that have been on this site. The setup with compensation and cap makes deciding whether you resign Jake Peavy an actual decision with consequences, you can't just sign everyone to ridiculous deals and takes away value if you aren't careful because those contracts (Beltran, ARod come to mind) make teams have to give up additional pieces to get out from under whereas in Molina's you just pick a 1.0 prospect from Mach and he takes all of everyone's bad contracts. It also rewards people for trying to find diamonds in free agency, you don't see most of the same top 10 every year (except steals), you get the occassional "breakout" year from a guy like Matt Dominguez and his 24 homers last year, I don't want to see a lose of that little tweak.

Talent losses and gains are at the whim of OOTP. The only thing we can do is have mulligan or save policies to mitigate it some.

I know, but it doesn't seem to happen to guys in the other leagues when they're developed in that category.

guys would die inexplicably in missions league all the time too. and i think we can all agree that his development settings was about the best we've seen in any league here... no knocks on any other leagues, since ive really enjoyed provs, trendys and leos.

I definitely agree. Molina/Leo's and OM's are a close second. I found TPSL to be great too.

I've not used a save often in MSL. But if we had saves in this league, I'd have to have used them yearly (I know, we only get one every two years) and it gets beyond frustrating when it keeps happening. I'm still bitter over Remole and BJ Upton (hammer should have enjoyed decades of Upton fun!). Rawr
