The Jays believe A.J. Burnett's soreness today was caused by the breakup of scar tissue in his elbow from his earlier Tommy John surgery.
That'd certainly be the best-case scenario.
If the Jays are right -- the MRI seems to support them -- Burnett might available during this first week of the season. He'll be shut down for five days and then resume his normal throwing regimen.
"We hope so, we hope he can do that," GM J.P. Ricciardi said. "Obviously, we're going to err on the side of caution."
