Blue Jays signed RHP Brandon Morrow to a three-year, $20 million contract extension with a $10 million club option for 2015.
The deal covers Morrow's two remaining arbitration seasons and his first year of free agency. It's a risky play for the Blue Jays given the right-hander's history with injuries and his sometimes troubling walk rates. But he's only 27, possesses nasty raw stuff, and he has the potential to dominate if he fixes a few flaws. Morrow had a 4.72 ERA and 10.2 K/9 in 30 starts last season.
