The team announced on Tuesday that the right-handed pitcher, who injured his arm on April 13 and has been on the disabled list since, will have season-ending Tommy John surgery on Friday.
Renowned arm specialist James Andrews will perform the operation.
Litsch is expected to miss 10-12 months.
