Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Oakland Athletics acquired catcher Curtis Thigpen from the Toronto Blue Jays for a player to be named later or cash considerations on Friday.
In addition, Oakland signed catcher Eric Munson to a minor league contract.
Thigpen was batting .148 in 14 games for Toronto this Spring as a non-roster invitee. He was outrighted off the Jays' 40-man roster on February 6. The 25- year-old had two separate stints with the big league club last season, going 3-for-17 (.176) in 10 games.
Munson spent the 2008 season with Nashville of the Pacific Coast League as part of the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
