Scott Rolen out for 4-6 weeks

DUNEDIN, Fla. - Blue Jays third baseman Scott Rolen said Thursday his broken right middle finger could sideline him for six weeks.

Acquired from St. Louis in an off-season trade, Rolen was injured when was hit on the hand by a ball during a fielding drill Sunday on a back field. A screw was inserted in his finger during surgery Monday.

"The doctor gave a four-to-six week window from the time of surgery," said Rolen, whose team beat the Houston Astros 8-3 in a spring game Thursday.

The team can't catch a break, 1st Janssen and now Rolen.

Heard the screw or pin will come out in 2 weeks and then they will know how long Rolen will be out for, Marco Scutaro will fill in for Rolen at 3B, hopefully he can get ging early on and help the team.

Although it was a freak injury, this couldn't have come at a worst time, I don't think this will hurt his hitting since the broken finger was said to be his middle finger, but it could hurt his defense when he's throwing the ball.

Rolen starts the season on the DL.

yeah its true but the real concern was Rolen's shoulder

True. but he is older, and he has been slipping each year. Hopefully he can come back healthy and be effective, but I wouldn't count on it.

I hope this is the last time you have to say Rolen out for 4-6 weeks. I have a feeling it won't though
