The Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to a one-year contract with catcher Rod Barajas worth $1.2 million with an option for 2009.
Barajas, 32, spent last season with the Philadelphia Phillies.
In 48 games, he posted a .230 average with four home runs and 10 RBI.
Barajas has thrown out 33.7 percent of potential base-stealers over his career. The 6'2", 230 lb. right-handed hitter was a member of the 2001 World Champion Diamondbacks, batting .333 (3-9) with two home runs in the playoffs.
Originally signed by Arizona, the veteran of nine seasons (Arizona 1999-2003, Texas 2004-06, Philadelphia 2007) is a career .239 average with 62 home runs and 235 RBI in 584 games.
