BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Alex Rios went 1-for-3 in a rehab assignment with the triple-A Syracuse SkyChiefs Monday.
Rios went on the disabled list with a staph infection July 1. The right-fielder, who was Syracuse's designated hitter Monday, had been enjoying a breakout season with a .330 average, 15 homers and 53 RBIs.
Rios singled up the middle in his second at-bat in the fourth inning. He popped out in the first and sixth before being lifted for a pinch-hitter in the eighth.
