yeah.. Jays win.
A stellar performance by Roy Halladay. A complete game, only allowing 1 run.
Only if the rest of the staff was like this.
3 game losing streak snapped. Hopefully we can start a long winning streak going.
Good stuff from Halladay.
9 Innings 104 pitches, Loewen 5.2 99 pitches. He improves his ERA to 2.75 which is as nice as it sounds.

Im not the Genius that traded for Brandon McCarthy. And my name is certainly not John Gibbons...
Scott Downs, LHP (1-0, 5.40), will start tomorrow's game

per mlb.com as usual
Pitching matchup
BAL: RHP Rodrigo Lopez (4-7, 6.51 ERA)
Lopez has struggled against the Jays in his career. His record in 13 appearances against Toronto is 2-6 with a 7.25 ERA.
TOR: LHP Scott Downs (1-0, 5.40 ERA)
Downs' one victory came in a relief appearance against Baltimore on June 6. The lefty allowed one run on one hit and two walks in an inning of relief for starter Ty Taubenheim in Toronto's 6-4 win.
Scouting Report:
Lopez exited his last start with a lead, but the Orioles' bullpen prevented the 30-year-old from winning his fourth straight game. Lopez pitched seven innings against the Twins, allowing seven hits and a three-run home run. Perhaps most impressive, Lopez retired 10 of the next 12 batters after the long ball, including seven consecutive to finish his outing.
Downs starts in place of Gustavo Chacin, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list June 10 with a sprained elbow ligament. The left-hander made two starts earlier this season in place of A.J. Burnett, who was on the 15-day DL with an elbow injury in early April. Downs was 0-0 with a 10.29 in his two starts against the Devil Rays and White Sox. His one victory this season came against Baltimore on June 6 when he allowed one run in one inning of relief.
Player to watch
Vernon Wells is batting .319 (15-for-47) in June with one home run and nine RBIs. Wells is a career .286 (10-for-35) hitter with three homers and 11 RBIs against Lopez.

I've always liked Downs as a starter more than a reliever for some odd reason.
lets go win this.
Well, this probably assures Ramon Hernandez as a day off. Javy Lopez has caught for Rodrigo Lopez the past three games, and the pitcher has pitched quite well. There is no reason to suggest Perlozzo will break up this battery, and Hernandez certainly deserves a break, although I will be mad if he isn't in the lineup as the DH, considering we definately need his bat in the lineup. I have a feeling this game is going to get ugly fast, however, and the high scoring game of the night.
The way I see it, Lopez is the weakest spot in the Orioles rotation and I would be suprised if we dont get to him.
Downs + Lopez = Home Run Showcase? Hits Galore?
Go Jays!
