Since the minor league free agent topic doesn't seem to be gaining much support... what do you guys think about managing a 40 man roster and using the waivers feature?
Yes! It will be more fun, and more challenging
No! This is overkill

ha ha ha........please. Not again. 40 man rosters made my sim life hell.
I think no. Let me ask you Crazy. How often can people not even make a 25 man roster for the their ML team...now imagine them managing a 40 man roster. But besides that, its just another thing that will slow down the league.
Again, same reasoning for aaaalllbbbbbbbblllaaaa's poll, I normally would be all for this, if it was debated and installed before we ever began drafting and putting together our teams. So, since I don't like piling on as we go along, I vote no.

I'm willing to try it without. We can always change it later if shit's a mess.

Yeah...I forgot to make it an "open" vote so that we would know how people voted. I haven't voted, but I can give you a reason to do it. I can give a reason not to do it as well. lol
Anyways, using waivers makes the game more realistic. The worst teams have the first chance to claim a player on waivers which helps the teams at the bottom improve.
Realistically, teams will block their rivals from picking up someone.
But I'm not crazy about waivers no matter which style is used. I like the Rule 5 draft, cause I like drafts lol, but waivers and 40 man would probably bog down some GMs. I imagine quite a bit would find it tedious to put in all that work, and would rather just set up their major league roster and call it a day.
There's also the chance that someone doesn't fully understand waivers, 40 man rosters, and all that jazz.

We tried this once and it didnt work. All waivers became was a way for teams to sign a player to an outrageous contract and then attempt to ditch them for free.

I think waivers was doing swell before the game bugged out.

I didn't think the waivers process was going bad. Nobody could get rid of a big contract if nobody was willing to take it on.
I voted a big hellyeah
I voted yes. I believe it offers a challenge to the game & adds strategy to GM decisions. The 40 man roster is designed to force a GM to make decisions, do I keep my veteran SP or do I keep the prospect who is still developing. The waiver system also keeps owners from constantly shuffling guys between AAA & the majors. I know it has been mentioned that division rivals will make claims only to block moves, this can be true only if the team has a worse record (but isnt that the whole point, if the player is that valuable to your team why send him down to AAA & not keep him on your active roster).
