OOTP Artificial Intelligence Question

I thought I would throw this out there to all...

I just asked Provie to auto Colorado to see how the AI set the team up. Here are a few questions:

Why does the AI have Carlos Vargas starting in MLB and Cody Johnson in AAA? Vargas is a 1.0 and Johnson is a 2.5, both have decent fielding numbers. Does the AI see something in Vargas that is not readily apparent?

Why does the AI have Feinberg in the rotation and Irons in the bullpen? For that matter, why is Orlando Vargas in the bullpen over both Feinberg and Irons?

Why is 22 year old Tracy Dates playing off the MLB bench with Cody Johnson in AAA? I don't think the minor league report last season said that he was ready to be promoted...

Why William Burg over Redondo LeClaire at MLB backup catcher?

Why does the AI put the worthless 20 year-old SP Tony Villar in AAA?


I suspect the answer is... The AI doesn't know shit! But what are some other thoughts?

I've seen similar things in my league, OM. Other times, however, the cpu's autos have given me ideas I've used for my team.

Honestly, I suspect the same (that the cpu is just dumb and erratic, though).

It may also have to do with how the team strategies are set, perhaps?

I'm not sure, but that's speculation of mine. You can lock team strategies so that the CPU can not modify them when a team is auto'd, and I have that set in TPSL so whenenver someone requests an auto, it does not change team strategies aka stealing, hit & run, pull starting pitchers, pull relief pitchers... etc. all that stuff). I often wonder if when you auto, if the cpu modifies those, it picks players to go along with their team settings? Unsure.

Just a random theory. But more than likely, the cpu is just a dipshit.
