Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.
I know no one has complained, but I just wanted to point out a few ST happenings in case those people were wondering why something did or didn't happen.
sorry, but he didn't learn 1B...doesn't always work. You can stick him there anyway if you wanted.
just letting you know that his defense fell apart due to this.
just letting you know that he lost talent due to this.
he learned it, but he's only got 1 range.
Yeah i know....how is that realistic at all?? Just because you work on power hitting for a spring doesn't mean you forget how to play the outfield. It's not something you just forget....that makes me angry. And he didn't gain any power at all...and to top it all off, he lost contact too. Golder is pissing me off

it's how the game works GF. That's the risk. You have to lower something in order to raise something else...hence the whole points system they use. It would be ridiculously easy and stupid if you could only increase things in this manner. If that were the case, everyone would do that and eventually increase every player
His contact went down because he had poor batting practices due to you lowering the point total for contact. His defense went down because you lowered the point total in defense even more than you did for contact. His power went up. You have to remember that a "6" could be anywhere between 50 and 59 since the game uses the 100 scale for ratings. His power is now 55 and it was lower than that before. That's the risk you run when you try to make drastic changes.
I know, i know, I just think it's a bit ridiculous. I'm not complaining about you or anything, just *****ing about how the game works. Def not worth killing his defense and contact for maybe 3 points to his power. That is annoying.
I think I get what GF was saying.
I understand that's how the game works but I'm not so sure it reflects reality because people don't just forget how to play defense.
That being said, if the game didn't work that way then everyone could just take away from the defense for everyone in favor of other categories, so it might not be a bad thing that this particular portion of the game doesn't quite reflect reality.

I didn't say you were blaming me. I didn't do anything except enter your ST changes and click the button to run ST. If you were blaming me, then that would be stupid because I'm not the one who requested those settings. That's how the game works. I thought most people knew that about this version of OOTP. It's not a new game by any means (this version). It has its limitations and stuff.
In some ways it does reflect reality IMHO. Essentially, if you lower defense down to 1 instead of 5, the player isn't practicing defense much at all during ST. Of course he's going to lose some skill there. Maybe he shouldn't lose that much, but I have no control over it. I honestly thought everyone knew the risks involved with manual ST changes...at least dramatic changes. There is nothing I can do about how the game works.
I knew it worked that way.
I'm just glad Gomez didn't suffer too much with the lower ratings I gave him.
He did lose some according to my player development page but it doesn't appear to have been anything drastic.

you significantly lowered defense and lowered contact enough to have an impact there as well. that's what happens
if you didn't know before, now you know for the future. there is a lot to learn about how the game works. I don't claim to know everything about it. I'm still learning stuff myself. It takes time to figure it all out.
Lol, dtd for 8-9 weeks.
