Looks like two guys completely fit the super class criteria that I've noticed.. Young and Harden. No way should any pick be protected with Harden possibly on the market.

I agree on Harden, and he will be on the market. He refused to negotiate with Koushien earlier in the year.
Anyone???
If you don't give me any input, then don't come to me complaining about how the compensation is setup.
This is your chance to give some input and help make this a great system.
I say you take a look at what nick does and make minor tweaks there.
Add that Super Class and make only the top 3 picks protected.

I do like how Nick does it in the TPSL. Although, after looking at the FA class, I'm thinking we might have to go mostly if not all based on ratings. Perhaps start with ratings, and then as a fallback if players had really good stats, then maybe use that as a secondary. The reason is I'm not seeing very many really good 2010 stats from the FA class, but I am seeing some good ratings. This league is more stacked, so that may be a difference.
good point but maybe give him a created player that would be a 5.0 Spect on top of the 31-33 pick?

I agree with the idea that Harden is more than a 30 something pick.
And I also agree that there is a lot of "ratings" talent in the league, so deciding the fate of the compensation should be based on that. But we should not overlook the stats of some players.
IMO from my little knowledge of OOTP, players with good ratings can go from performing well to performing bad in the matter of a sim or two. So if we do the compensation based on stats, we could be doing it for someone that has had a under performing year, but has in the past been able to perform as one of the leagues best. We, the GM's shouldn't be punished because one player decided to pack it in for a season or even less.
My god, after reading that, I just realized how real OOTP is. It hurts my brain.
Foster,
Its called a hangover

Based on how stacked this league is, what do you think the levels should be for Class A and Class B in either stats or ratings?
I think you have to add the Super Class. But the league is so extremely stacked, that you probably should do a 70-30 split on Ratings-Stats. But if a guy is like Rich Harden, it shouldn't matter if hes 0-20, with an ERA near 7.
Also will the arby cuts, have any compensation at all?

Yeah, I agree on that one. You are making the decision on the arby cut, so you shouldn't get compensation.
If you did, than I'd cut everyone, get a bunch of specs and do that for the next 3 years till I build up some sort of Preschool Squad of Youngsters.
And it's not a hangover, I feel fine this morning.
A wine drunk doesn't hurt me as much.
As for what I think the positioning of the Class A and B stats should be, I haven't a clue. Let me watch some ball, and I'll look around and see if I can think of something to give you.
Harden pretty much singled handedly pitched me to playoffs, so I think you know how I feel about losing him...

ok...this is what i will do. since everybody seems to like how the compensation system works. so i'm going to use the ratings formula (not stats) that is used in the TPSL, and see how many players will be rated class A and B. I may adjust them before posting a trial list on here or I may post them as is. Then we can decide if it needs to be adjusted for this league or if it looks good as is. At that point, we can also consider if any players deserve to be added based on stats alone.
