I don't know what Porter originally typed, but it seemed to me that you were upset about him picking you to finish last, and I'm taking offense to my team being the one that is to be leapfrogged.

He did pick me to finish last at first.
Then I, in what was meant to be a joking tone, bickered that he predicted me to finish last despite my moves that included giving my team two aces at the top of the rotation.
He then, at his own behest, changed his predictions to put San Diego 3rd.

You're already proclaiming that your team won't finish last. That doesn't seem like a joking tone to me.
The first reply was a joking tone.
The latter replies weren't.
But, in all reality, I'll just be happy to have a winning record.
I did predict a playoff appearance in a drunken stupor in another thread, however.

It's so tough for me. I've traded a lot of quality guys that I didn't necessarily have to trade, but I'll probably still make the playoffs as the division winner or the Wild Card. I'd love to "start over" so to speak, but at the same time I want to have a strong team to give Harden, Street, and some others the best chance to reach their milestones. We've all seen how studs do here without a supporting cast. There are also some guys that have only been Cardinals and I want them to retire that way.
I do think that PIT, HOU, NY (N), CHI (N), STL, FLO all have a solid shot to make the playoffs as division winners or the Wild Card. I think the West is the most unpredictable division. Colorado will probably win it, but who knows. SF is handicapped with poor money management and an aging team. Arizona is truly trying to win from within and made no moves. SD made a huge splash, but it remains to be seen how they will do. Yeah, he added 2 former 20-game winners, but they won 20 on my team. I don't think his offense is as good as mine was.
As far as the AL...TB, CHI (A), MIN, and ANA are the teams to beat IMHO.
I think if my pitching does gel at for a full season I could make some sort of noise. But I do agree those are the 4 teams to beat. My offense is slightly better than last year (couldn't get worse) and My pitching was solid in the 1st half then sucked the 2nd half. Henderson is an upgrade over Colton Woods in a big way. And the bullpen is still pretty solid for the most part.Originally Posted by Providence A's

NL:
East
Florida, they have the talent but do they have enough of a pen?
NYM, should easily win 90 games but not enough power
Washington, not enough pitching
Philadelphia, not enough GMing
Atlanta, not enough everything
Central
St. Louis, will Knipp be missed?
Pittsburgh, will they have a GM to steer the ship?
Houston, needs pitching
Chicago, 3 hitters and a couple of relievers don't make a team
Cincinnati, not enough talent to hold its own in this division
West
Arizona, needs a pen
San Diego, needs more than just one of the Hansen brothers
San Francisco, sketchy pitching
Colorado, no offense in Coors?
Florida and St. Louis and no one else really matters.
AL:
East
Tampa, no question
Baltimore, needs more pitching
Boston, entirely solid but nothing special
Toronto, decent but prone to giving away talent
New York, has a crappy-Bavasi like GM
Central
Chicago, unfortunately
Minnesota, just needs more starting pitching
Cleveland, has some pieces but really no pen
Detroit, doesn't have many pieces working for him
Kansas City, what happened hammer???
West
Anaheim, without question
Seattle, solid pitching but few bats worth mentioning
Oakland, also solid but Dave Bush is one of their top pitchers so.. yeah no.
Texas, the offense is solid and they have no pen
Tampa, Chicago, Anaheim, Baltimore
Tampa/Baltimore
Anaheim/Chicago
Tampa/Anaheim winner plays Florida/St. Louis winner
