Class definitely looks above-average to me...I'll be surprised if Abernathy doesn't go first
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.
Ah, give me something clever to say here.
A nice class, and hopefully it moves as well as drafts in the past. From June 4th to 15th I'll be on a cruise. So limited internet access. I'm hoping to have at least made my 1st round pick before I leave.
Former GM of...
S3SL Padres 2017-2030
SBSL Isotopes 2007-2009
TSSL Cubs 2006-2018
TPSL Cubs 2007-2018
So, brownie, you know me pretty well....
Starting pitching shouldn't overloaded...those specs should go to the worst teams. I did add to every position so believe me when I say it's loads better than what the computer came up with. And it's certainly not a thin league overall. People will be getting better than a 4.0 pick in the 2nd and better than a 3.0 in the 3rd. Everyone should get 4 - 5 solid picks to add to their system.
I find it funny that there is a CPU generated guy with the nickname "Cobra" given the theme.
I agree. It's just that there are teams like mine that need SP so badly, but we still turn in a .500 record or thereabouts every year, so I don't get one of those top picks. I'm not going to lose on purpose, that's ridiculous, but with such a low fan interest I can't get the money to get stop-gap free agents to get my team over the top. So I have to look the specs. And I was hoping to get a dominant SP spec for the next few years with Austin losing talent randomly . So basically my team's stuck in a never-ending spiral of mediocrity
Rebuilding suggests that there was something there in the first place.
Tanking is for losers.
so you wanted a draft deep enough for 5.0 SP specs to be taken at the 17th pick? That would be a ridiculous draft...unless SP specs were the only thing good in it. There would have to be 15 stud SP specs in order for you to get one then...that's insane. You could always trade for SP...the reason you have little money is because you lost over $7 mil last year.
Well, Kyle, it's not so much losing on purpose, but try trading away your high priced older talent. That way you get prospects back and set yourself up for the future.
is that my fault? I have a low payroll, and I still lost money. That's not my fault. The only big contract I've signed so far is Chris Shelton which, granted it was quite a bit too much, was still not enough to put me in so deep a financial hole.
I realize you can't make such a deep draft. But what do you expect me to do?
I realize this, and I wasn't planning on rebuilding because I thought I had the abiility to at least make it to the playoffs and maybe increase my fan interest for some more money. And I'm gonna try it for one more season. If it doesn't work out, I'm fire-saleing. We'll see what happens.
Draft the best you can with what's there and trade.
Making a ridiculously deep draft would be unfair to GMs like me who's trying to dig the shitty Padres and their albatross contracts out of the hole.
I actually have free agency money this year!
