2008 Amateur Draft

The 2008 Amateur draft is rapidly approaching us. The next sim will bring us up to draft day, so it's time to check out these youngsters and scout your future franchise player. The draft pool is on in the league reports under "next first year player draft class". This is how the draft will work...

We will be doing a list draft. Once you check out the draft class, send me a list of the players that you want to draft. List them the order that you want them to be drafted. You can list as few or as many as you want. I will probably do at least 3 rounds this way, then the rest will be auto drafted by OOTP. I think this is the best way to do it since a live draft is almost impossible to find a time that everyone can attend. A draft thread would take take too long, and we can't continue to sim until the draft is finished.

The deadline for sending in lists will be Friday night at 8:00pm EST.

I won't know the order until after the sim, but I will be posting it at that time. We will most likely be using the order that OOTP has set up.

Since the first 3 rounds are list, even if we get the picks we want, after the 3rd round it's going to be simmed? Even if we send in a super ginourmous list?

Yup. The program will do the rest. There are like 10 rounds or something crazy like that, so it's just way too much work for the commish to do a list for more than the 3rd round.

Just an idea for next season. You could always sim ahead to the draft, and not save the file. That way you could post the order in the off season, and do a board draft. Since it seems like it save you a ton of time. I can't imagine a list draft being very easy on you.

I'm betting the order is either based on our records last season, or it'll be like SBSL since this is essentially the same kind of sim, it'll be based off our records this season.

It can only be one of those two ways, most likely the latter, unless it's modified by hand. It doesn't matter which order it ends up being to me, honestly. The draft is nice and deep, joy to the world.
