Your honest vote is needed (league members only)

OK, the Dodgers are open and have a ton of guys that are could become free agents if they aren't resigned. I plan on resigning decent and above players to what I deem to be reasonable contracts. There is 1 player that I'm not too sure about. Mission is very familiar with this jerk...it's Dontrelle Willis.

The guy is highest paid player in the league at $30 mil per year...he is asking for $32 mil x 4 years!!! He'll be 34 at the start of next season. He is a stud so I hate to let him go, but at the same time that contract could really hurt someone that takes over.

The question is: should I sign him or let him walk?

Re: Your honest vote is needed (league members only)

FYI - he has over $44 mil left in extensions after these signings:

    Kubel - $3.5 mil x 2 years
    Gonzalez - $3 mil x 2 years
    Owens - $2.25 mil x 2 years
    Johnson - $3.25 mil x 2 years
    Elbert - $3 mil x 5 years
    Abreu - $4 mil x 3 years

Everyone else except for Willis and the semi-dead Brazoban is under control for next season at the minimum.

Let him go, whoever takes over the Dodgers will be completely ****ed with that contract.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Agreed, he needs to be a free agent, you can't sign a 34-year old to a 4 year contract, unless you actually own the team that's signing him and you take responsibility for the contract, you know what i mean?

As someone who took over a team with Roy Oswalt's contract, I say let him walk.

Oswalt was a FA signing and Willis is in better shape than he was BTW.

But who's to say he'll still be that good when he's 37 and on the last year of that 32 mil per year contract?

I'm sure Roy Oswalt was still good when redsr signed him to the 28 mil per contract.

he was never at the same level as Willis...Oswalt has been crappy for most of that contract. If Willis only sucked for 1 of those years, that wouldn't be too bad...but I'll probably go with what the majority votes for, which as of now is to let him walk.

Let him go. It's easier for someone just coming in to the league to make moves if they have cash available. Plus they would be able to sign a good FA or two. You can't lock them down with that kind of a ridiculous signing, it's not fair.

As someone who has no interest in signing Willis, I'd still say let him walk. You can't saddle a team with a potentially devastating contract.

Voting is still open, but it looks like I'm going to let him walk.
