Saturday 7/1/2008 :
Dewon Brazelton was named American League-Pitcher of the Month !
He had a record of 6-0 in 7 games started, with an ERA of 1.55.
Wonders never cease.
Crappy sim. Jason Mason, turns out, not an answer for the bullpen.

6-4 sim, at least we had a winning sim. Looks like things are starting to get back on track.
The good:
-Bartz gains actuals. Yay!
-Arias's hitting streak ends...at 19. Freakin snub from the All-Star game...
-Jeffress is now 2-0 with a 1.49 ERA in his first 3 big-league starts.
The bad:
-The pitching ERA, although it has dipped below 5 for the team now, which is promising.
-The team batting average drops from 1st to 2nd. Not a big deal, but it would be nice to hold number 1 there.
The ugly:
-Vlad Guerrero. He's a 9-8-10-6-8 and is hitting .259 with 6 homers. Yuck.
-James Shields DROPPED his ERA to 5.52 this sim, and Verlander DROPPED his ERA to 4.86. They need to keep going down.
Trying to figure out how being snubbed and ending his hitting streak is good while lowering your ERA is ugly.

My assumption is that by deserving the ASG and by HAVING the hitting streak is good. And that the ERA can be lowered to a number that high is a bad thing....i guess
Well that's spinning it rather difficult, Nancy. But it does work.
By the way, I never did say Shields would be good. I was eagerly trying to dump him off on some poor schlub, >=)

very true.
Batting AVG: .266 (12th)
Homeruns: 74 (26th)
Walks: 227 (28th)
Stolen Bases: 143 (1st)
Runs Scored: 391 (T-24th)
Pitching ERA: 4.13 (5th)
Opponents AVG: .249 (3rd)
HRs Allowed: 75 (6th)
Walks Allowed: 267 (20th)
Runs Allowed: 382 (6th)
Pitching is doing pretty well. Will only improve if Brandon McCarthy and the rest of my starters pitch to their potential, and stop getting hurt. The offense will hopefully come alive eventually. We will need it to win this division
Another 5-5 Sim and I continue to lose ground to Milwaukee. I am only 2 games under .500 so I hope to get over the hump soon and gain some ground on the front runner. Second place and my pitching is really keeping me a float.
the good news: 5 game lead and Lander gained talent
the bad news: more MLB players getting nickel and dimed with talent loss (Cox before his injury, Scherzer, Casilla, Jackson, Concepcion, Ortiz, Barden) and 2 specs lost talent as well (the not so important Haerther and my only solid reliever spec Martines)
The entire Cobb Division....except Miami....went 6-4 this sim. And I'm only gonna get better when the Melkman Comes back....
Ruth division remains close.. a true dogfight still
Batting AVG: .280 (7th)
Homeruns: 103 (6th)
Walks: 287 (8th)
Stolen Bases: 103 (10th)
Runs Scored: 496 (2nd)
Pitching ERA: 4.93 (22nd)
Opponents AVG: .273 (26th)
HRs Allowed: 81 (13th)
Walks Allowed: 276 (25th)
Runs Allowed: 438 (22nd)
Stubbs has got to be the leading candidate for both ROY and MVP
Pitching has talent... why they are still only 22nd in runs allowed is baffling me

Gallardo still 9-8-9 but it sucks seeing how he was the 9th overall pick in the fantasy draft, picked ahead of a lot of better players now, ya
Hurley only 10-5-8 now, now he'll walk everyone
Marquez fell from a 5.0 star prospect (not a great 5.0 though) to 3.5 star prospect
only positive thing in development
Tim Battle seems to have taken his game to the next level!
but he's only a 2.0 star prospect, a big oh ya there

Same old, same old type of SIM for me. Another 5-5 outcome, but gained 1 game on the division leader Milwaukee.
Well... as it has been all season... Ruth division is still the closest race out there... all 4 teams within 4 games, all .500 or above
Batting AVG: .286 (3rd)

Talented pitchers still not performing
Stubbs still looks to be hammering down ROY and MVP... 1st in BA, OB%, OPS, RC, RC/27, H, 2B, R, EBH, and TB... 3rd in SLG%, 2nd in RBI, 2nd in SB,
