If you can, it might be worth it to copy the file after the draft and then sim a couple of seasons and look at the league leaders to ensure that we have realistic MVPs and Cy Youngs. A trend that I have consistently seen with 2008 is loss of talent. In 6.5 you have a few functional players with less talent than overall rating, but in 2008 every team seems to have several. MOST talent losses do not recover, but some do. Quite the dilemma for a GM who is trying to decide whether a player should be traded or not.
that's not a bad idea. i like that idea. worst comes to worst he has to restart the league and see if the ratings improve. they do usually, i've noticed, at least on my copy. i haven't really looked for talent loss, but if that's a problem you can always change the settings.
Agreed with OM...
I was in an OOTP 8 league for a bit of time but never really got into it partially because of the odd ratings...I hope that doesn't happen with this one.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.
Ah, give me something clever to say here.
20'll just confuse people more, IMO.

Testing the rosterset is always a good idea. Adjusting the development settings as well as the stat engine can be tricky. I would find a established 2008 league over at the OOTP boards and try to PM the Commish and ask him for his engine settings as well as development and aging settings. Just an idea. I'd rather see this take a little longer to kick off and we get it right than having to restart after a season and a half or so.
You can't confuse me anymore because I am beyond the realm of confusion. I am in deep deep lost mode. All I know is I ended up with David Wright of the Mets as my 1st pick and I like that. He is a great player and also very nice to look at.
2nd-I get a guy I never heard of befor M. Latos a SP. So Confused
Henks-I gather this is your first attempt at this?
I'm really thinking about scrapping OOTP8 and going back to OOTP 6.5... I just dont know if using 8 is going to be a good idea.
I agree.

Going back to 6.5 would be wise decision. OOTP has yet to release more reliable version.
