I think we should limit all talent boosts to one area in particular and can only go up one talent point, i.e. 8 to 9. That's it.

That's ridiculous. Marcus Sanders just made the giant power leap from 1 to 3. Is that out of line?Originally Posted by Raphictor
Of course it isn't. I was joking in rebuttal to the ridiculous conclusions that we must change Cain's velocity back.

Well, fooled by Raphictor. Son of a *****.
Not completely but its ridiculous for anyone to have that sort of mph improvement. The talent you hear about all the time stories of a Mike Piazza (42nd round), Albert Pujols (12th round), John Smoltz (22nd round) hitting it big but you dont see pitchers going from throwing mid 90s to over 100 mph during the season.Originally Posted by Jamoo

Hey, I am in his division and I don't have a problem with it. Leave Cain and the setting alone.
Agreed. It's a fluke. Cain hit the jackpot. Let the GM enjoy it.Originally Posted by missionhockey21

hey.. if an 8-8-8 pitcher suddenly becomes 10-9-10... so be it
if a 88-91 MPH pitcher suddenly goes to 91-94, so be it
If Endurance jumps from 5 to 7, so be it...
Those are all natural or believable....
"Matt Cain increases his Velocity from 8 to 20 . ".... on a scale from 1-10??? nah

Ah, I didn't realize the 20 out of 10. Drop that to 10 then. Unless Rickey Henderson jumps to 20 in discipline. If that should happen, leave it alone.
1-10 is what the normal levels are, but you can surpass them and 20 is the max level it can go to. When Bonds is usually created for the roster sets, his levels are not 10 for power, it is usually 18 or so. When you go to edit a player in a solo league, test out 20, it works in the game.Originally Posted by DiamondDave

No bud... 1-10 is what the range is... 20 on a 10 scale? Might as well be playing Madden outright and legit while our opponent is able to use every Madden card in the book....
And you mean to tell me 8 to 20 in progression is not a glitch??? c'mon..... We are not 'editing' players in this... and I don't care what the game will let you do in edits.... why don't we lower the gravity when one batter bats, or something equally rediculous as a 20 velocity in a 10 velocity world??
This is absolutely rediculous, completely a fluke or glitch, and you know it

No bud, the range is not 10. The range is 1-20. The game shows the ratings as 1-10 because that is the rating system selected. A player can be better than that. I'm sure there are scores of players with ratings above 10, not all the way to 20, but above 10. Play a solo game with it. Click on edit and put in 20. Put in 11, 12, or 18. The game will read it and he will play above the normal 10 talent. If you want a definate answer, go ask someone that works with the game. He'll give you the same response.Originally Posted by DiamondDave
And I'm not saying we are editing anything. The player development setting is higher than any usual league allowing for developments like this. It is developing beyond the 10 scale. If you look around, some players with a 9 or even talent rating are getting talent boosts in that area. The game isn't leaving them at 10 just beacuse it is a 1-10 scale. It puts them at 11 or 12. Gooden got one of those last year, and he was all 10's. If Crazy wanted to, he can go look at some players using his edit key. Without changing anything, he can veiw the actual ratings. They will be above 10, not exactly at it, and this isn't a glitch, it happens in all leagues.

all 10's.... not all 20's... big difference....
I'm running 2 leagues on my PC here... and unless you set it to be able to go to 20, it does not decide to put them at 20... it does not arbitrarily go above what you set it at... when we chose our ratings, we chose 1-10... not 1-20
So no, it does not happen in all leagues, unless there is a mistake or you let it happen in the league
Hell.. why not bring back the 600 foot fences
