They're not being allowed after 3, they're being ANNOUNCED after 3.

When 100 trades come in at once, it's hard to process and announce them in time.

What's the deal with Brian Burke trading Keith Carney and getting Jeff Friesen back? Is Sean O'Donnell a capable replacement for Carney?

Yes. I knew Poile would go after someone he drafted. This helps the Preds but I am surprised they gave up a 1st rounder.

Carney got traded to Vancouver because Carney is going to be an UFA after this season and yes O'Donnell is the same type of defensemen as Carney but I beleieve O'Donnell is signed for another year

Burke traded for Jeff Freisen since he was looking for a top 6 forward

TSN had an interview with Burke early in the morning and he said Salei and Giggy was not going to be traded

its the same reason the Edmonton Oilers gave up their 1st round pick to Minnesota, the up comng draft is weak after the top 10, so getting Witt for a good playoff run is probably worth more to Nashville then draftng a young player and wait for 2-4 years for him

Niklas Nordgren is a forward. He was 3rd left wing behind Stillman and Whitney on the depth chart after Cole's injury.

Burke should've kept Keith Carney, free agent or not. It makes no sense aside from financial reasons for Burke to give away one of his shutdown defensemen if he still wanted the team to make a run at the playoffs. Reacquiring Friesen, who hasn't put up numbers since New Jersey traded him to Washington, shows that Burke wasn't selling.
