    Rival team makes playoffs question

Hey fellows I got a question for you all, say a team in one of your sport teams divisions makes the playoffs, do you root for them? Im pondering that question, my dad says yea becasue that way you can say our division is the best( lol to the NL west, good luck going to the WS Padres), but my brother in law (Dodger fan) says you dont root for them, what do you guys think?

Well, I know I never have and never will root for a rival in the playoffs. If my team doesn't make it, why should I root for my most hated rival to win? That's a very strange concept to me.

Being in the same division as your favorite team does not necessarily make them a rival.

Boston and New York, that is a rival.

But for instance, when the Marlins were making their WS run 2 years ago, I was rooting for them. That's not a rivalry.

I always root for the NL in the WS. It doesn't matter if it's the Dodgers or whoever. As far as NLCS or NLDS, I could root for the Pads this year but I am not. I root for the team I think will have the best chance of beating the AL whoever that may be. This year its the Cards (my second favorite team) because they have the best chance. Last year was a fluke as they were up against things they had no control over.

I cheer for the Big East in general, when they don't play WVU. Even Syracuse.. (which, next to Penn State, is a really hated team in these parts).

As for baseball, or any other pro sport, I give up watching when my team bows out so I could careless otherwise. As long as the yankees lose of course.

when the cards make it I want them to be out first I just know the better they do in the playoffs the worse a chance my team will have next year so I root for the other league

Depends. I have no problem rooting for some teams, others I couldn't. No way I would root for KC or Oakland, but Milwaukee in baseball = sure!
    I aim to try
