Welcome to PTI, boys and girls. In today's Wilbon-less episode, Woody and I yap about the trading deadline and the movies that did and did not happen.

The biggest bust of the deadline was the Manny Ramirez deal, or lack thereof. Woody, what do you make of this? Are the Red s0x finally done trading Manny?

I dont think as long as Manny has the contract he's got that he will never be fully off the market. In this age of penny pinching and bean counters you got to believe if someone wanted him during the offseason a deal would get done... especially if they got something big in return to protect Ortiz.

Like what? They're not getting Texeira, A-Rod, Sheffield, Andruw, Dunn, Lee or any other big name slugger in return. I dont think they A.) Should or B.) Will trade Manny. I don't know about being done trading Manny; they DID trade him for A-Rod, but the MLBPA blocked the deal. Look for something similar in the offseason.

Next up, the Matt Lawton deal: Who got the better of it?

By far the Cubs they are getting a leadoff hitter they have sorely needed for years. Gerut was hitting .083, and traded twice now. This was a steal by the Cubs just like when they got Ramirez from the same Pirates.

I'm tempted to say Wilbon's Cubbies did...but Gerut is by far younger and still has time to develop. Lawton has never impressed me for some reason.

We go to the last big trade happening at the deadlin: Farnsworth to my Braves. Woody, whaddya got on this trade?

I wish that the team almost everyone marked as the big wheelers and dealers had stepped in and upped the ante with Weathers and Mercker, that would have driven Farnsworth's value down a great deal as he has had struggles this year with control and both the reds have at least been solid.

You never know with prospects they could turn into John Smoltz or be John Doe. Colon has gotten rocked so far but so did Jeremy Bonderman when he got 20 losses, but I still say the Braves got the better end of the stick.

Colon might or might not be a good player. Needless to say, it wasn't going to be with the Braves, because he's a SP and the Braves have 8 SPs better than Colon, right now. He sucked in the pen. The other spec wasn't valued by the Braves. Farnsworth on the other hand has a 100 MPH heater and can fight. I'll take him over those two any day.

The Mets have about as much chance as Wilbon or Kornheiser finding their hair. The only way the mets make the playoffs is if everyone suddenly turned into the 69 Cubs and choked. They are last place in the east right now and didnt get anything that could help them down the stretch. To be nice Ill give them a 2%

Hines Ward will not be Joey Galloway. I see him holding out but not the whole year, because then hes stuck under the same contract with 2 yrs remaining not 1 if he were to play half the games. Once the games start he would come back. Plus I think Pittsburgh will cave since he is the passing game, averaging 90 receptions and well over 1000 yds the past 4 years for a team with a young qb would be killer if they have to throw.

Zero. None. Nada. Zilch. This isn't Hines Ward. He might miss camp; he might even miss one or two preseason games. He'll be there for the first game.
