MINNEAPOLIS -- Record-setting quarterback Brett Favre is expected to sign with the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday,
WCCO-TV in Minneapolis reported, citing a high-level source with the team.
WCCO-TV spoke with an official at the airport in Favre's hometown of Hattiesburg, Miss., who saw an airplane with the Vikings logo leave the airport Tuesday morning.
Favre, who played for the New York Jets last season, told the Vikings on July 28 that he would remain retired.
Favre, who will turn 40 on Oct. 10, played 16 seasons for the Green Bay Packers, NFC North rivals of the Vikings. The teams meet Oct. 5 in Minnesota and Nov. 1 in Green Bay.
