That was a very touching tribute that the USTA just put on, bringing out all (most) of the former champions. I had t.ears in my eyes when they brought out some legends like Laver. Only problem is that they're more than 1 hour behind schedule, ugh.
Of course "anyone" can win it, technically, but Roddick has like 0.0001% chance of winning. His mediocre results this year speak for themselves. Third round flameout in Australia, 2nd round at Wimbledon, 3rd round in Toronto. Last week, he lost to Viktor Troicki in Washington DC!!! He skipped the Olympics for that?! Also remember that Roddick hasn't won a major since 2003 (that's 5 years ago!) and has only won one Tier 1 event in the last 4 years. ONE!!! He hasn't done anything over the last 4 years to give indication that he's a serious contender here. BTW Nadal just finished a stretch of tournaments where he won Hamburg, the French, Wimbledon, Toronto, the Olympics with a semi in Cincinnati in between that; he's played more matches than anyone else on tour and Phau played out of his ass; and yet Nadal still won in straight sets.
Doesn't change the fact that a no name gave Nadal a tough match which will ware on him even more. I say either Roddick or a no name wins. Lightning strikes sometimes.
16 of the last 17 majors have been won by either Federer (10), Nadal (5), or Djokovic (1). The top 3 in the world right now.
Still going with no name or Roddick.
Uh... ok. Stay content with picking players who lose.
Back to actual tennis, the Safin-Spadea match was kind of wild and crazy today, plenty of errors on both sides. I'm pumped that Safin pulled it out in the end, but doubt he goes far if his game is this inconsistent in the coming rounds.
Querrey had the big upset over Berdych and Haas outlasted Gasquet in a match that went 5 as well. Federer goes tonight against MaxGon from Argentina.
What I would like to know is who is that blond chick behind McEnroe?

Huge upset! Ana Ivanovic, supposedly the #1 player in the world, gets dispatched by some french b.itch named Julie Coin, a qualifier ranked #188 in the world. Not only is playing in her first major event ever, but in her first tour level tournament ever. The women's tour is in shambles.
Roddick made a guy quit by serving an ungodly serve and the guy couldn't get out of the way
