Only in the crappy Southeast Division can you go from 9th to 3rd in the East standings.

Boy, have I been hiding under a rock. I didn't realize that the Predators, given up for dead after losing Vokoun, Kariya, Timonen, Forsberg, and Hartnell, still made the playoffs.

    Re: Hockey picks.

Nashville had a deep farm system and made some smart and unnoticeable free agent signing in Gelinas and Bonk (mostly for the checking line).

While Nashville has a deep talent of defensemen, Shea Weber been hampered with a back injury since the start and Steve Sullivan been out for the whole season (since the 06/07 season) too with a back injury. The injuries hurt Nashville more than losing players. Although forsberg was likely to re-sign in Colorado, Nashville or Philly

And their forwards were still deep in talent with Jason Arnott, Martin Erat, David Legward, JP Dumont, and Alex Radulov.

The big question was who wild replace Vokoun and the answer was Dan Ellis not Chris Mason who struggled almost the whole year.

Also by dealing Vokoun to Florida, Nashville got their 1st round this coming draft and the pick ended up being the 9th overall. Even when making the playoffs they get a top 10 pick.
