ESPN.com: Amare, Diaw suspended one game; Horry gets 2
This is such nonsense. Stern should step in here and re-evaluate the ruling.

The rule is a joke, but it could have been avoided had Stoudemire and Diaw simply kept their asses on the bench.
they shouldnt have broken the rule. Its been a rule for how long now? at LEAST 10 years (since that infamous Heat/Knicks brawl where they had to break the suspensions over 2 days for the knicks as they couldnt field a team otherwise), so there is zero excuse for them to do what they did.

There is 0 excuse to penalize 2 players who were not involved in the fight at all. If they had engaged in the fight it would have been one thing. However, due to smart coaching, they were unable to.
They've set a precedent that this rule has to be strictly enforced, no matter whether the players are involved in the fight or not, and unfortunately that means no Amare or Diaw.
It's a dumb rule and it needs to be changed but they really can't justify changing it until after the season ends or else it looks even more unfair (since they've always enforced it before, but now that it 'matters more' and there's outrage about it, if they overturn it, it'd look very conspicuous).
what about when Duncan and Bowen came onto the court earlier in the game? If it's "zero tolerance", then those 2 guys should be suspended, too. I don't even like the NBA, but it's clear they've been favoring the Spurs with Bowen kicking a guy in the ankle, kneeing Nash in his fellas, and now this. They basically have decided the series now. I'll be surprised if the Suns can win after this garbage. What a joke...just another reason why I'll never be a fan.
I'd imagine the reason they didn't suspend Duncan and Bowen is because the rule explicitly states you aren't allowed to come on after altercations (meaning fights), and the event before that was Elson getting up-ended by James Jones, and if there's one thing the NBA apparently likes to do, it's adhere to the rules as strictly and overly-technically as possible.
DAVID STERN ON PTI SOON!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW...David Stern is a liar. He wasn't held back by a referee. He was like 1 foot on the court.
This rule is so dumb. There was contact by Tim Duncan and absolutely no contact by Amare.
I have a feeling that a lot of NBA fans will lose interest in the sport.
You have to love the analogy made by Stern about the speed limit rule.
This interview makes him look like a joke.
Stern just compared hitting someone with running down a sideline. Is this Bud Selig?
Well they know the rule, should have sat on the bench like mo-fo said.
