NHL playoffs begin with two bangs

Double overtime in the San Jose vs. Nashville game where it took a last minute ridiculous sequence of events to tie it up for Nashville, and quadruple overtime in Vancouver as Dallas scored two quick third period goals.

Roberto Luongo made SEVENTY TWO saves in the win.

    Hockey is flippin sweet man.

Playoff hockey is indeed sweet, but Crosby getting no room to breathe isn't (not that I can blame the Senators of course.)

    And 72 saves... wow.

Yeah, 72 saves is ridiculous, especially going 36/36 in the 4 OTs. The record's 73, held by Kelly Hrudey in... 87, maybe. Impressive stuff.

Tonight's schedule looks a little weaker than last night, though NYR/ATL and CGY/DET have me excited.

I love it and miss it. I wish that I could see it more often. Our local cable does not carry versus channel in our package, and I used to watch it faithfully on ESPN/ESPN2. I can watch a game when the major networks are carrying a game. Good to see the playoffs start off with lots of excitement!

Big win yesterday by the Pens Mission. Hopefully they can get another today.

I want the Galgary Shames (or Calgay Lames) to get destoryed by the Red Wings, no matter what.

I'd like the Calgary Phlegms to win so the Red Wings would be knocked out by an 8-seed again. But it won't happen this year.

Sure wish the Wild could win a game! I did not think things would be so bad for them. Nothing like being down 0-3 and have to win the next 4 games or your out till next season. To bad things did work out for them. I see the Wild as a playoff team for many seasons to come.
