More career majors: Tiger Woods or Roger Federer?

Tiger just got done winning his 11th career major (4 Masters, 2 US, 3 British, 2 PGA) and he's 30 years old.

Roger Federer has 8 career majors (2 Australian, 4 Wimbledon, 2 US) and will turn 25 years old shortly.

Tiger Woods will finish with more majors than R-Fed.

Hes still got 20 years of competitive golf in him?

    does R-Fed have that?

tiger woods, definitely. Federer is on top of the world right now, but many top tennis players fall off the face of the earth after about 28. Tiger's best years are actually probably still ahead of him in terms of what golf usually brings. Tiger did his best work before his prime, and then he hit a bit of a lull, and now that he is actually just entering a Golfer's prime years (30-42 years of age) and with no one else really his match I see him beating Nicklaus's mark of 18 and I dont see Federer getting past 15 majors on the tennis tour.

Tennis players' hit their prime in the early 20s; they die at around 27-29.

Sampras won 4 straight wimbledons from age 27-31.
But, still.. most golfers peak at the mid 30s. Woods most likely has 19 majors in mind.. so, that he will get more then Jack Nicklaus. Federer defaintly won't get to that.

Aside from Nadal, who's going to knock Federer off his pedestal, regardless of age? Hewitt isn't spry and the Americans are too inconsistent.

More time for Woods in his career despite the bigger competition, is a pretty good reason why.

That point goes both ways too. Federer doesn't have much competition now and yet he has only won 8 majors so far, 3 in 2004, 2 in 05 and 06. What is he going to do in 5 years from now when he is older and there will likely be more competition?

I got to go with Fed, because he's 5 years younger and he's only 3 majors behind Tiger.

    I'll go with TW.

Federer is younger than TW but its not like Federer blew away Nadal...even on Federer's favorite surface he didn't kill Nadal.

Nadal is younger, bigger, faster, stronger. A bad combo for Federer. Nadal will get better on grass and currently beats Federer with regularity. TW might have more competition but he'll play longer and doesn't have a younger guy already kicking his butt with regularity.

Um wer e talking about Tennis and Golf and 2 things come to mind when discussing these events... zzzzzzzzzzzz and who cares?

Anyways Golfers have more durability. Whats the average burnout rate for tennis players 25? Tiger has 10 more years at least.

Golf isn't a sport so it shouldn't count for anything.

But that's not the question. Since the question is who will win more majors, it'll be Tiger based simply on what many others have said. Tennis players have a limited shelf life before they get tossed to the side. Since Golf isn't really a sport as much as it is a hobby and a pasttime, players can play forever and not lose much off their game for 20 years. Tiger wins by default, even though what he does doesn't count as a sport. Then again, Tennis .... ugh, that's a topic unto itself, isn't it?
