For those who have a DVD recorder...

I'm thinking about buying a DVD recorder specifically for recording television shows that I'll be missing once I go back to school next week. I'll have to install it using my Dish Network.

Does anyone here have a Dish/DirecTV/anything?
If so, What kind of a DVD recorder do you have and is it pretty easy to hook up?

Its easier to use a TiVo or a similar device (possibly available through your sattelite provider) instead of a DVD recorder. If you are planning to watch them on your computer, TiVo allows the programs to be downloaded to your PC.

Redsfan28 is correct but if you do get a DVD recorder they are very easy to hook up, it's like hooking up a VCR.

I was able to watch television on my computer before I got the Dish, though. I'm just going to get a DVD recorder.

I bought a DVR a couple of months ago, used it to record some TV shows and convert some camcorder stuff to DVD, then I returned the machine to Future Shop and got a refund before it was too late.

I got a DVR through Comcast, and lovin' it. Use it all the time now. I don't think it's supposed to be as good as Tivo, but it's a lot cheaper.
