March 21st Movie Pick 'Ums

Seriously guys, I don't even really need to say it when they'll make movies about anything. And you know it's sad. You'll know what I mean. Even then, weeks like this are my favorite, because we have more than two films and they all are so vastly different. We're back to normal, just pick the highest grosser off the list. Picks due by Friday, 11:59 PM.


Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector
Starring: Larry the Cable Guy, Megyn Price, Joe Pantoliano, and various other odds and ends not worth mentioning.
Theatre count: 1,700
Things to know: I.. I'm just going to skip this.

Inside Man
Starring: Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Jodie Foster, and Willem Dafoe
Director Alert: Spike Lee
Theatre count: over 2,700
Things to know: Obviously you only find a cast like that in fantasy land. Plus you have a highly controversial/many other adjectives director. But this is very commercialized for Spike Lee. He also did not write this film. How does one pass up a movie with such topline stars? It's been a while since a Denzel film of any kind failed to top 40 million overall. Clive Owen has been on a roll since Sin City, and Jodie Foster's last bag of films (David Fincher's Panic Room and Flightplan) have done very well. Plus, Spike Lee's name attached, the urban community could also very well be attracted. And then there's the downside, after reading some early reviews, it appears that people are turned off by the characters and the movie moves at a sloth-like pace. You be the judge.

Stay Alive
Starring: Jon Foster, Frankie Muniz, Sophia Bush, Samaire Armstrong, and Adam Goldberg
Theatre count: over 1,900
Things to know: Well it's a horror film with a PG-13 rating, that could help it so little teenie boppers like General can get in easily to see it or it works against as crazy horror fans want more blood and nudity and don't get it. This is not a remake, yes, not a remake. But, like a movie killing you in The Ring or a website being your demise in Feardotcom, this is a video game that takes a real life stage and whacks off people. I think I read that in a Goosebumps book once. Also, just know that comingsoon.net tends to kick horror films in the gut with negativity, but they haven't on this one. Wouldn't you like to see Malcom in the Middle die?

And Stay Alive looks ****ing awesome, and I expect the same type 4/10 movie that Feardotcom and Jason X were. I have every intention of seeing Inside Man and Stay Alive. Woot.

I feel like I gave you a freebee this weekend. Well, I'll be fixing that next weekend since Ice Age 2 comes out (hence, it's eliminated from the playing field).

There was some surprise, as A. Stay Alive almost made more than V for Vendetta and B. Inside Man made more in week 1 than V for Vendetta made in week 1.
