I have a MacBook. I've never had a serious problem with it (or any Mac) and for some of the design programs I use, there really isn't a better solution. I love my Mac.

For the everyday user, it provides an easy to use and intuitive interface, however I think Windows 7 has closed many gaps between Windows and OSX, and in some areas is actually better now. If you are looking for something for gaming or business, a Windows machine is much better though. It really comes down to preference, so if I was you I would see if there are any Mac stores (Apple or otherwise) as many usually do offer little classes to demonstrate the differences and try to sell you on the experience so you could get a flavor for it.

Yeah I will definitely go through a tutorial. I think I am open to the change and I just haven't seen a laptop or notebook the slightest bit appealing to me except for the Air and the Pro.

Honestly, I'd buy any T-Series ThinkPad with the cheapest HDD option and get a 300 GB SSD to swap in. That'd be one hell of a notebook and it'd probably last 10 years at the minimum.

It will take you a while to get used to Mac's. Every little shortcut you know for a PC that's second nature at this point you'll attempt to do on a Mac. It can be frustrating.

If you want a laptop just to surf the web, e-mail, music, and gaming. I'd just stick with a PC laptop. However Apple makes a lot of innovative software. If you're into audio or video editing, they have both amateur and professional programs, I'd get a Mac. They also have Aperture for photos which I hear is great, but I have no experience with.

Two things I'd suggest you do are 1.) Go to Best Buy or an Apple Store and see if you like the look and feel of the user interface. 2.) Make sure it has the Thunderbolt I/O they're just starting to come out on Mac's and will eventually replace USB (they say it's 12 times faster than FireWire and 20 times faster than USB 2.0). So you just want to make sure that you're future proofing yourself.

To be honest, the only thing really that took me a few times to get adjusted to, was maximizing a screen. Having had a touch for years, I'm more used to a Mac than I thought I would be, in terms of Safari and what not. It's really nice so far.
