2009 S3F May Madness Tournament Thread

Browntown and I are proud to announce that the seeding process for the 2009 S3F May Madness Tournament is under way!

The Criteria we are using is listed below:


Seeding Criteria: (No particular order)

- Activity on the Forums in the past year
- # of Posts
- Quality Posts
- Sim League Activity
- S3F supporter status
- Contributions to Forum (New Games, Ideas etc. (S3F 30 in 30 for example)
- Partcipitation in 2008 S3F Madness Tournament
- Desire to be in 2009 S3F Madness Field


Release Dates:

- 4/27 @ 8 PM 1 Seeds will be Released

- 4/28 @ 1:40 PM Release play-in game

- 4/28-5/1 Voting on Play-in Game

- 5/1 @ TBA Full 2009 S3F May Madness Bracket will be released

Also, feel free to post here about why you should be seeded wherever.

Our field is most likely not going to change much, but considering we did this in about 30 minutes, it's not set in stone. Except for Al_Pacino as the #1 overall seed.

2009 May Madness 1 Seeds Revealed


#1 Overall Seed: Missionhockey21 (Automatic Bid, Ohio Conference)

Not much of a surprise here, as the 2008 Champion he is back to defend his title and all he’s done is well, be the S3F owner and keep the forums going (most of the time J ). Missionhockey21 had no problem with the Ohio Conference tournament winning by double digits and is now for the 2nd straight year the #1 overall seed.


#2 Overall Seed: Redsrbetter (Automatic Bid, Rocky Mountain Conference)

One of the all-time S3F legends, don’t really need to say much more than that, will be a very tough out in this tournament. Cruised through the Rocky Mountain Conference regular and postseason tournaments.

#3 Overall Seed: Porter99 (Automatic Bid, Pacific Northwest Conference)

Up from the 3 line in the 2008 tournament, Porter has really continued on the scene with his analysis on all sports including introducing the S3F 30 in 30 series, and the Weekly Roundup (which is tomorrow at 11PM btw). Had no trouble with the Pacific Northwest Conference and took its automatic bid (It doesn’t hold a postseason tournament just like the Ivy League)

#4 Overall Seed: Kingdom_of_Zito (At-Large Bid, West Virginia Conference)

The only 1 seed in which we debated, active in a lot of the sim leagues and active partcipitant in the 2008 tournament but didn’t bring any new ideas to the S3F community. However, his sim league success is not matched by many and despite being upset in the West Virginia Conference tournament, his recent promotion to admin of the S3F forums gave him the nod as the final #1 Seed

Its not a vote, Brown and I went through last years bracket and this years newcomers and created the bracket based on our opinions and thoughts about the forums.

But you will vote for the winners of each matchup just like last year

I'm not sure where the problem is, we used a 2 man selection committee (improvement over a 1 man committee last year), if you have comments and want to make your case the seeds are NOT set in stone if you read above, we did a very good first cut at them but if you want to make a case for you or someone feel free to post it.

The idea is that you vote on the individual matchups, there is no point in having a vote on seeds and then voting on matchups cause there will be no upsets and no point in this.

The desire criteria has been now credited cause you posted, if you notice the final bracket doesn't come out for a few more days (to give people time to post etc...)
