2008 was a tough year for my family, financially. My daughter divorced her husband after discovering that he had (in a manic phase of his bi-polar illness) spent $50K on "stuff" (no drugs, he's clean as far as that goes) and tried to ruin her credit. She is nearly done with medical school -- graduating in May -- so her prospects are pretty good for the future. My wife and I are on the hook for some of his student loans, having co-signed with him on them to get him a better interest rate.
Enough complaining. No one needs to worry about our problems. They are not severe, nor are they going to get me down. 2009 should be a better year.
