He knew the chaos it would make just like the past five years with no end in sight. Hopefully Obama can restore America's good name and get some help in Iraq.

You say that like as though there wasn't chaos there before W was elected.

There was chaos, just not OUR chaos. Bush Sr. knew the ramifications it would have throughout the Middle East. Bush Sr. was also apart of putting Saddam in power in the first place.

Yes, he was a part of that, but people make mistakes.

Bush Sr made 2 mistakes, helping put Saddam in power and failing to remove him from it.

Bush Jr.'s biggest mistake (and there was many) was invading Iraq, taking Saddam out and recruiting/creating more terrorism.

Had Bush sr taken out Saddam W wouldn't have felt the need to finish the job for him.

We just happened to pick one out of a dozen dictators who kill their own people and created a civil war within their own country and we are stuck with the bill. Bush Sr. knew better.

in retrospect, I think it was a bad idea for W to invade Iraq (I was for it at the time, but now I'm talking in retrospect) because he'd have been better off leaving well enough alone.

But Sr invaded in response to Iraq invading Kuwait. Helping out a small country being bullied by another country is never a bad thing.

Sr should have just finished the job and let Iraq handle their own business in the fall out afterwords.

Bush stopped Saddam from making chemical weapons! He did his job by helping Kuwait and protecting US best oil interest. What Bush needed to do was done. If he would have taken Saddam out then, 9/11 would have looked like an amusement park ride compared to what would have happened. Remind you that 9/11 was in part because the US had bases in Saudi Arabia as a result from the first invasion. Its a ****ing mess in the Middle East and we are best served out of it!!

With all due respect I think it's kind of ****ed up to suggest that 9/11 was due, even in part, to us having bases there.

That's like telling a rape victim it's her fault she got raped because she "dresses like a ****"

You've pulled that card before. The fact remains it was part of it and the 9/11 commission and bin Laden tapes confirm this. The US had bases on their holy land and they attacked for their own ****ed up reasons. No one is defending their actions. Point is to think of what would have happened back in 90 if Saddam was removed and we just built bases on Islamic holy land. Frankly, I don;t want to think about it because 9/11 was bad enough.
