I wasn't even thinking about that. It's a coincidence. But Wesley Snipes was memorable as Willy Mayes Hayes in Major League and opposite Woody Harrelson in WMCJ. I thought his character in The Fan is just like Hayes, only he has a family and the ability to hit home runs. I liked The Fan because De Niro's portrayal of the not so happy-go-lucky fan.
For me, this is still the best line in a sports movie:
"Don't you talk back to me! You show me some respect! Without people like me, you're nothing! We're the ones that get you your 40 ****in' million!"
